City of Dublin ETB was established on 1st July 2013 under the Education and Training Boards Act, 2013. We are the state education and training authority for Dublin city with over 3,000 staff and 33,000 (full and part time) learners. We operate 27 schools and colleges including one Community National School, one Community Special School, two Community Hospital Schools, 11 Post Primary Schools and 12 Colleges of Further Education. City of Dublin FET College is the largest provider of QQI awards in Further Education and Training in Ireland and is made up of four campuses offering thousands of courses (PLC, apprenticeships, traineeships, Youthreach,... We are also responsible for SUSI, the national awarding authority for student grants in Ireland. City of Dublin ETB supports the provision, coordination, administration and assessment of Youth Services in Dublin city and is the lead partner in Music Generation Dublin City.
This provision is supported by a range of services including a psychological service, a curriculum development unit, a buildings capital and maintenance unit and the Head Office administrative staff in Ballsbridge. The 2026 fund of €1 million will enable the delivery of a vibrant and diverse range of programmes that are helping to change the lives of adults with unmet literacy needs in Ireland. 👨👩👦 Part of the fund this year will be made available to new and innovative #FamilyLiteracy projects. 🪙 We are continuing our collaboration with Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) for the second year. They are supporting the #FinancialLiteracy strand of the Collaboration and Innovation Fund with a contribution of €200,000.

The sixteen Education and Training Boards in Ireland are public education providers established under the Irish Government. City of Dublin ETB is a multi-service and multi-centre education and training provider with geographical remit for Dublin City and is therefore one of the largest Education and Training Boards (ETBs) in Ireland. City of Dublin ETB works with a wide range of target populations and age groups: Community national schools (Primary) Second Level and Youth Services along with all types of Further education and Training. We are also responsible for supporting further and higher education students all over Ireland through SUSI, the national awarding authority for student grants. Even at European level, the Irish VET sector, more often referred to as FET (Further Education and Training) is characterised by a high degree of diversity in the type of programme, level, and learner.
