Watching the volunteers debate whether to intervene made the whole scene feel even heavier. It made me realize the loophole isn’t always the system—it’s often the way people choose to exploit it. Education based on historical facts and not wish fulfillment is the only way to counter un-truth or false narratives. The fight for truth in journalism is more important than ever as misinformation spreads. This week, after much reflection, I announced that I’d be leaving The GroundTruth Project, the non-profit organization that I founded in 2012 and which was officially recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 tax-deductible...
