Millions of individuals suffer Traumatic Brain Injuries each year with devastating consequences for their entire families. The numbers are staggering, one accident every 15 seconds. To expedite the search for a brain injury cure, we have founded the Coalition for Brain Injury Research. As a charitable foundation, we are dedicated to raising awareness and funding to support brain injury research.
In 1984 while walking home from a football physical examination, our son Dennis John, then a 15 year old Clifton, NJ high school student, was struck by an automobile. He suffered a severe brain injury that left him totally disabled. Unable to communicate or care for himself in any way, Dennis was dependent on others for the basic necessities of life. He remained in the care of his loving parents and family for the past 40 years. Dennis John passed away peacefully on January, 29th, 2024. The devastating injury that altered his life remains a source of sadness and frustration for our entire family.
Dennis’ story is not an isolated one, recent statistics show that an ever-increasing segment of the population continues to suffer a similar fate at an alarming rate. The majority of survivors are under 30 years old. Most are caused by similar vehicle accidents. Due to the nature and unpredictability of the severe disabilities associated with traumatic brain injuries, many victims live out their lives institutionalized without any hope of improvement. Fortunately for Dennis, he was cared for at home by loving and devoted family members, nurses, therapists and friends throughout his life, but his injury was the impetus for creating the Coalition for Brain... It remains our mission to continue to raise awareness and funding in support of these efforts and to help expedite the search for a cure.
The Coalition for Brain Injury Research is dedicated to supporting and promoting research that will lead to a brain injury cure. Raising awareness as to the need for a cure will renew hope to all survivors and families who continue to suffer the disabling effects of this devastating injury. Based on recent advances in the neurosciences, the potential for cure is rapidly gaining credibility in the research community. We remain totally committed to working at the federal, state, and grass roots levels to achieve our goals.
