This new series focuses on the two protagonists Liko and Roy on their adventures with the Rising Volt Tacklers while being pursued by the Explorers. It is currently unknown if the series is linked to the era of Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu, and Team Rocket trio. Liko, a novice Trainer from the Paldea region, enrolled at Indigo Academy in Kanto, where she received her partner Pokémon, Sprigatito. However, Liko found herself pursued by the Explorers for the pendant inherited from her grandmother. Fortunately, a group known as the Rising Volt Tacklers intervened and she joined them on their adventures. During a stopover on an island in Kanto, the Rising Volt Tacklers encountered a boy named Roy.

He formed a bond with a Fuecoco that was traveling with them and chose it as his partner. Roy also joined the Rising Volt Tacklers to seek the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza, which emerged from an Ancient Poké Ball given to him by his grandfather, and to explore the world.
