This full-text database is a resource covering the culture, traditions, social treatment and lived experiences of different ethnic groups in America. It provides full text from a growing list of sources including peer-reviewed journals, magazines, e-books, biographies, videos, and primary source documents. GenderWatch is a comprehensive resource for gender and women's studies. It offers full articles on topics like sexuality, religion, societal roles, feminism, masculinity, eating disorders, healthcare, and the workplace.

Search the archive or pull up a specific article. Artstor is now available on the JSTOR platform. Provides abstracts and citations to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender literature published worldwide. Citations represent periodical articles, books, newspapers, newsletters, case studies, speeches, and other formats. Also includes full text for GLBT journals, magazines and regional newspapers, as well as numerous full text books.

Multidisciplinary databases are extremely useful for finding articles published in interdisciplinary journals or in journals outiside of the discipline of American history that may still be relevant to your research topic. In addition to containing journal articles, many of these database also provide citations for (or full-text access to) books, book chapters, dissertations, and conference proceedings, which allows you to cast a wider net in... This multidisciplinary resource contains access to scholarly journals, book reviews, magazine articles, newspaper articles, books, videos, and trade publications in English and a wide variety of other languages. Coverage: 1887-present Scholarly and popular publications on gender and the evolution of gender roles. Coverage: 1970-present. An index of scholarly articles and books. Look for the Find@UNM link to access the full-text articles in University Libraries subscription databases.
For books check the library catalog. Google Scholar will link to some--not all--of the online resources to which the University Libraries subscribes. Use the "Check full text @ UNM" link to see if the resource is available through a UNM subscription. It may also be helpful to look up the journal or citation through UNM eJournals tool. They represent some of the disciplines relevant to American Studies. Depending on the focus of your research, you may want to consult other databases listed on our full Databases list. Use the Subject filter there to browse the databases by discipline. Peer reviewed articles and book reviews of American and Canadian history, prehistory to present and searchable by historical time period. Scholarly journal articles and magazine articles in the fields of communications, mass media, journalism, television, film, radio, newspaper publishing, speech, broadcasting, and advertising. Full text newspapers, magazines, and journals from ethnic, minority and Native presses.
Filter by ethnic group and language. If you know the disciplinary or topical area you're researching in, you can use these databases to hone in on scholarship in those areas. (That way you don't have to use narrowing facets or keywords to get at these frameworks in the broader databases--you can just use keywords related to your specific topic.) Index of literature covering the history and culture of the United States and Canada, from prehistory to the present. The database indexes journals from 1964 to present and includes citations and links to book and media reviews. Citations to articles and book reviews in scholarly journals published in Latin America and the Caribbean, or those dealing with topics relating to Latin America, the Caribbean and Hispanic Americans.
Subject focus excludes pure and technical sciences. Links to full-text are available for selected journals. American Studies is very interdisciplinary, so you can do searching in broad databases and/or choose to narrow in on discipline- or topic-specific databases based on your particular research. These are some good bets for general and cross-disciplinary searching for scholarly articles. Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.
It is also very useful for seeing if other scholars have cited a book, article, etc. Search on the title, and then follow the "Cited by ..." link.
