Home / Resources / Research / AACTE Research, Reports and Briefs / Revolutionizing Education for All Learners: A Road Map to the Future (2021) Over the past three years, AACTE has been engaged in a strategic planning process that will guide the organization through the coming decade. This report reflects findings from a vital part of the planning process: input from a cross-section of deans of education and public policy and foundation leaders outside the AACTE organization who are engaged in... What do these leaders think of the new AACTE strategic plan, its vision, mission, and goals? What insights do they share? While AACTE relies on a governing structure and membership drawn exclusively from working professional educators, this report provides invaluable perspectives on AACTE strategic priorities from other engaged, knowledgeable observers—specifically, a select group of thought...

institutions. These foundation presidents and board members, policy organization directors, and AACTE member and non-member deans of education at large, small, public, and private institutions offer unique insights for AACTE as it initiates steps to... Perspectives from these thought leaders will inform AACTE’s president and national office staff as they draft operational plans that realize AACTE’s new vision, mission, and strategic priorities. A secondary gain from this study is the building of relationships with prospective new partners and non-members who share AACTE’s commitment to high-quality educator preparation; promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion; and advancing educator preparation,... -Lnp2L>IRZMLTnX$6O#)9*IR!fN!(O_1P5~> endstream endobj 259 0 obj <>stream 8;Y8d]lMUV&Cs^4b,LCNSVP)1d2Y7R#mD-F49VJ%cs;ola?Z)`]E&J,DiP])q` WkW9dRBY#EHg\$Z65qF0[X\5R)#+H74%]:FTh1!1r!eSMl"QM'f6fc.gU;n4:/DLLqjDV@%kYAMZUrVZVU:t)G[KKGiZ,ig -'0]2gg+/i46P6U0)!OZL-SuiietP2@/e,$_?"(U. #DqO*^f"N#5AVkJn25!eG+410:%4(S2^k6X=>^24YhE 3h;SO9YZ[m'(Mf_qi4*]X*.eWR0;T*U6k%%H(G]/CVWjHl]FPhCTHIYciYk/,4$aH l5nrcLgb]$iNbK+"rq$fQ]Js/OWd 'u+)g?Y:*(YUmL@f!!Y)AK9A1bP3iqel3fPYNIN-KBFO\=;G7(?PC_GPKf[@rsf#a."C:~> endstream endobj 260 0 obj <>stream 8;YPl]saCa$l2e+6mja49,DD",e_OOG.Bc(mYg]Xq?0K;QnW-X?`1>Dq'SEoK#joN "s]*)+[4$=5ouh6P#=n1>C/hE;O2.-%]m1e?WC*SadWcg:"L3@ir"k[uu-AMO_rq_%aZ3NdTpU>OEM:j7aVeRBoOUmcmcb2=AqItgo0\X2h`mg3^ L*D i8WfITC:OCjg&H*Z2(GVr5q"`DXc^YE];fY>Qkor@-##;oo7-1nS8]O\ShK:I<\K] DHH>tCSu#3?F3ngX;lF9i_fgro,E(`IJ[=X9Y(c23^D"F!?+[k")q((t#OiSK$7bYcLphQ^S)B`1&R>.Ab_%JUO$*N@>bjOh: i7urP&JpAsV(?V7o\#_>I(7LJk;.OLq%J4>^D^A2r\o;2(b7bPbWGf]*W_gX$,$Rr W(h7 endstream endobj 261 0 obj <>stream 8;YPl]l)RY&>hLbP<,[A2PUZE/o$16-(8qSP:7$iA1>*8audOTi=+D/(FV=t=_,$- TmN?%W#tW'Pf*V`qCJ)4:>^KtF:nW&fSYqF;(04Vb>bahPdhP\;oL6>.NP['O6^NO eG*>0pe)THj:9*FF@X`&ip-cW BrY:5PgR3`&c*p!Q:i-f'k_V:KmlE849Z"c2uW)?q,o%C8h\5/^WjD'h)B>.PaMm5NF3&h-7lu >h7[k[>+"6(RLS.I?L'/g7s?TT7uT4E#kd;NZCJgr/l%O8>Gh=C0SEkE4*'&S.VjB 5Zi$Lk^AnTWM^ZDWjQL>BM]MH?h+$6YeK2sA)IO%4eY_Pf/qB3g%hr0PC!m4\@DE0 jqs"_`unk<>G^@1?=-!Vf2pT/IHbiLfJLP4bC,(n:tF6'e+b,.G!nWEN/B%.#E1!OVSZ`Y&g7U>#a+"0kB2qH7~> endstream endobj 262 0...

Opportunity is public education’s fundamental value proposition. Because 90 percent of young people in America are educated in public schools, whatever happens in our schools has a profound impact on the democracy and society we become and has an outsized impact...

Forty years since “A Nation at Risk” catalyzed a focus on test-based accountability, educational progress has stalled, and support for education reform no longer holds the political center. In this watershed moment for America and its public schools, recommitting to the opportunity-enhancing mission of schools is essential for both meeting the evolving nature of students’ needs and rebuilding broad bipartisan support for... No one should doubt the severity and scale of the crises confronting public education and the extent to which they are having an impact on student learning: historic declines in student achievement and enrollment;... COVID laid bare the tremendous responsibilities we place on schools and our relative lack of information on access to essential opportunities. While it’s currently uncommon for states to systematically collect opportunity-to-learn data, there are models to emulate. For example, the National Assessment of Educational Progress asks test-takers to indicate whether they had access to opportunities that impact results, like a computer, a quiet place to study at home, and teachers they...

The vision for public education needs to be updated and reinvigorated to connect enduring values to contemporary challenges. Understanding that states hold the constitutional mandate that guarantees public education, in 2022, the Aspen Institute Education & Society Program invited a group of regionally, politically, racially, and ethnically diverse state policymakers to explore... These policymakers met for eight months to reflect on their leadership values and their visions for public education. They reviewed education research and met with experts in the fields of the future of work and the science of learning and development. The goal was not to create specific policy prescriptions since that work is state-specific but rather to identify common ground that could serve as a starting place for rebuilding a bipartisan agenda. After developing a set of principles, the group workshopped their draft with a wider group of education leaders last summer.

In September, the policymakers released a set of principles to undergird the next generation of education policy with a long view toward providing students with the tools they need to succeed. Home / News / Press Releases / AACTE Report Examines Imperative to Revolutionize Education for All Learners (March 18, 2021, Washington, D.C.) The American Association of Colleges Teacher Education (AACTE) released today its latest report, Revolutionizing Education for All Learners: A Road Map to the Future. The research closely examines the Association’s new strategic vision—to revolutionize education for all learners—for a comprehensive understanding on how best to serve the nation’s PK-12 public school students during a COVID-era. It also offers invaluable perspectives on AACTE’s key priorities for the educator preparation community to guide the profession through the coming decade from the lens of thought leaders at influential grant-making and public policy... institutions.

“This report is a compilation of interviews with key foundation, advocacy, and research stakeholders who affirm AACTE’s vision,” said Dr. Lynn M. Gangone, AACTE president and CEO. “AACTE is grateful for the insights and affirmations of these engaged, knowledgeable leaders who understand what is required for AACTE to become a visionary and effective agent of change.” Many of the research participants call for a fundamental re-design of the public-school system to achieve educational equity, increase educational attainment, and improve life outcomes for all students. All interviewees recommend significant changes in education that require:

.“Each leader agreed that ‘revolution’ is the correct term to describe what is needed to better serve the nation’s PK-12 public school students,” said Dr. Leslie T. Fenwick, AACTE dean in residence and author of the report. “The word ‘revolution’ was viewed by respondents as bold, definitive, and the right idea and action for this time.” Of course, as will most industries, education will be influenced by artificial intelligence (AI). Because AI can replace many technical skills – think data analysis, coding, and entry level tasks – human skills will be more important in the future.

I spoke with Instructure’s Chief Academic Officer, Melissa Loble, to learn more about the future of education in an AI-driven world. The future of work demands a completely new approach to development, one that one that prioritizes courage, critical thinking, and applied context. She offered three key predictions: 1. Human Skills are Now Core Competencies 3.

Corporate and Higher Education Join Forces For HR and business leaders, this isn’t just an academic discussion; it’s a direct challenge to your workplace culture and a blueprint for how you’ll attract and keep your best people. If you’re serious about improving talent retention in an AI-driven world, you need to understand the three key predictions that are changing the game. Education has always been a cornerstone of human progress. In the 21st century, however, the way we learn and teach is being reshaped by digital tools, global connectivity, and new approaches to knowledge sharing. One emerging name in this transformative landscape is a2zeducen—a concept that symbolizes learning “from A to Z” with innovation at its core.

But what exactly does a2zeducen mean, and how is it revolutionizing education for a better future? Let’s take a closer look. A to Z – representing comprehensive learning, covering the full spectrum of knowledge. Educen – derived from education and enlightenment, suggesting a central hub for growth and development. Together, the term signals an approach to education that is complete, accessible, and future-oriented, designed to empower learners of all ages.
