The State Education Policy Tracking tool from the Education Commission of the States provides a searchable database of enacted and vetoed K–12 education legislation across all 50 states, with records extending back to 1996. Users can filter by year, state, or policy area to identify how different legislatures have addressed issues such as accountability, assessment, finance, governance, and teacher workforce policy. The tool also offers the ability to track recent sessions in near real time, while allowing for longitudinal comparisons that show how policies evolve over decades. For educator preparation programs, this resource makes it possible to situate local and institutional practices within broader state policy environments. The State Education Policy Tracking tool from the Education Commission of the States provides a searchable database of enacted and vetoed K–12 education legislation across all 50 states, with records extending back to 1996. This tool from Prepared to Teach offers practical guidance for writing and enacting legislation to support teacher residency programs. The EdPrepLab community engages in collaborative inquiry, developing models of educator preparation for deeper learning. EdPrepLab conducts, collects and disseminates research about educator preparation that center deeper learning and equity. This database, developed by the National Conference of State Legislatures is a searchable resource that compiles state-level education bills and resolutions. It is updated weekly during legislative sessions and includes legislation introduced since 2023, along with archives of enacted laws, school safety bills, and earlier statutes.

Users can filter by state, topic, bill status, year, and keywords to locate relevant legislative activity. Each entry provides a summary, bill history, and in many cases a link to the full text. The database is designed to provide a clear view of legislative trends and variations across states. Preparation faculty and administrators may find the tool useful for tracking legislation related to educator preparation, examining policy developments across states, and drawing on current or historical statutes to inform coursework and program planning. While programs that prepare educators for deeper learning and equity are distinguished by their commitments, practices, and content, it is the work of program design and administration that supports and enables such preparation. Programs may follow a variety of models, but what all such programs share is their initial investment in, and ongoing attention to, the structures that undergird their efforts.
