2025 Nfl Playoff Picture Bracket Schedule Updated During Week 14 Msn
Adam Schefter discusses the implications of Daniel Jones' brutal season-ending injury for the Colts. (0:56) In an NFL season in which so many teams are tightly packed at the top of their respective conferences and divisions, every week of football in December is going to drive massive changes in... Thursday's win by the Lions over the Cowboys kept Dan Campbell's team in the race with its divisional rivals for a wild-card spot, while Dallas saw its own push into the postseason derailed. The Cowboys' playoff odds were more than cut in half, per ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) There were more significant swings on Sunday, especially in games where teams with realistic playoff aspirations were pitted against one another.
With three potential playoff teams on bye and two more still to meet when the Chargers and Eagles play on "Monday Night Football," there were four matchups between true playoff contenders on Sunday. (Sorry, Bengals.) They were all interesting in their own ways. Today, I'll break down the big stories from those four games and what the outcome means for both teams involved. That starts in Jacksonville, where a Colts team saw its chances of making an impact in 2025 and potentially 2026 disappear in a matter of moments. Not only did Indy lose the division matchup, it also lost quarterback Daniel Jones to an Achilles injury. A team that had visions of running the AFC playoffs through Indianapolis as the 1-seed might not make it to this season's postseason at all.
Note: All playoff odds throughout are via FPI. The NFL playoff picture continues to get sorted out in Week 14 with a trio of key divisional matchups. The Jaguars now have the edge in the AFC South after a comfortable win over the Colts. Indianapolis QB Daniel Jones injured his Achilles during the game and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Pittsburgh reclaimed the AFC North lead via a win at Baltimore, and the Bengals' loss at Buffalo means the Steelers likely only have to worry about the Ravens going forward. In the NFC, Tampa Bay is tied at 7-6 with Carolina after the Bucs' loss to New Orleans.
The Packers earned the NFC North lead with a win over the Bears with several key games still remaining. Here is the NFL playoff picture in Week 14, with the standings updated throughout Sunday, Dec. 7: The 2025 NFL season has officially reached its home stretch. As we ready for this weekend, only five full weeks of regular-season action remain until the start of the playoffs. The postseason picture is far from finalized, but it's really taking shape -- including in the fight for top seeding -- thanks to late-year contests.
The current field features a bevy of unexpected heavyweights, including the Denver Broncos, who survived a thriller on "Sunday Night Football" for their ninth straight win; the Chicago Bears, who overpowered the reigning champion... Where, exactly, do all the playoff contenders sit entering Week 14? Which teams would be in the postseason if the schedule were halted today? And which clubs still have a shot to sneak into the mix down the stretch? Below is an updated rundown of the entire playoff picture, complete with remaining schedules for primary contenders: This is the NFL playoff picture as it stands, with the following teams tabbed for postseason spots:

7 with their loss to the Packers. The Seahawks are 10-3, one game out of the best record in the NFL, but they're No. 5 because of the 10-3 Rams. The San Francisco 49ers, also in the NFC West, is the No. 6 seed in the NFC at 9-4. In the AFC, the Broncos moved up to the No.
1 seed with a win over the Raiders. Check out the up-to-date NFL Playoff Picture if the playoffs started right now: In the hunt: Indianapolis Colts , Baltimore Ravens The AFC playoff picture has gotten reasonably clearer with the Ravens and Chiefs... The winner of the Steelers vs. Ravens game was always going to have a leg up, so Pittsburgh is firmly in the driver's seat now in the AFC North. The two teams might end up tied with their division record if the Ravens win the rematch, but Pittsburgh is 6-3 against AFC opponents, which could end up being huge. The Chiefs face a huge uphill battle to make the playoffs, one that would frankly be a shock if it happened.
The Texans are healthy and trending upward, while the Colts have lost four of their last five and just lost their starting quarterback in Daniel Jones. Houston also plays the Raiders and Cardinals in the next two weeks, which should help cement their playoff standing. In the hunt: Detroit Lions , Carolina Panthers The NFC is much more interesting than the AFC. The NFC South is firmly up for grabs with the Bucs and Panthers, with the team that finishes second looking highly unlikely to get a wild-card spot. The Lions have already beaten the Bears this season, and the rematch will be Week 18. If Detroit can stay within striking distance and win that game, chances are it will be in.

The NFL has often been considered a league of parity throughout its existence. The league's 2025 season has been a perfect example of that. Few would have expected the New England Patriots would have the NFL's best record through 13 weeks. Even fewer would have anticipated the Patriots would be jockeying for position with the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears atop the NFL standings. Perhaps most surprising of all, the Kansas City Chiefs have gone just 6-6 over their first 12 games. The three-time reigning AFC champions will need to finish the season hot to sneak into the postseason.
So too will the Baltimore Ravens, who also sport a 6-6 record but are clinging to a razor-thin lead in the AFC North. Because of the chaos defining divisional battles across the NFL – where no division leader sports an advantage larger than the Patriots' 2.5 games – there aren't expected to be any potential playoff clinching... All the division and wild-card races remain too close to call in this topsy-turvy season, which should create an exciting five-week stretch run for NFL fans. How does the NFL's playoff bracket shape up heading into Week 14? Here's a look at the NFL playoff picture and which teams would square off if the postseason began after Week 13. The NFL always prides itself on parity, but this year is taking things to another level in that regard with just five weeks remaining in the 2025 regular season.
Heading into Week 14, six of the eight divisions have at least two teams within one game in the loss column of first place. Three divisions have two teams tied for first place. The wild-card picture in both conferences is just as chaotic. All three AFC wild-card teams currently have an 8-4 record. The lowest-seeded team in the NFC playoffs right now are the San Francisco 49ers, who have as many wins as the No. 1 seed.
That No. 1 seed, by the way, is the Chicago Bears after a stunning Black Friday win over the reeling Philadelphia Eagles. They own the NFC's longest active winning streak at five games.
