3a. Evaluate the process of ethical decision making. This assignement really challenged me to think about the choices I make everyday, not just as a nurse, but as a person. After I had completed the assignment, I questioned whether or not I should have used this particular situation. The situation is black and white when it comes to the safety of a patient, but there are some gray areas that make one question what are the correct steps to take. The end result was the right ethical decision to make.

3e. Analyze the impact of access on health of populations. This was a very eye opening class. After being out of school almost 8 years I was full of mixed emotions. It really challenged me to apply my readings to my professional life and think about all the things I have been doing in the last seven and a half years. Where nursing is today and where it wants to be was well explained through our readings and webcasts.

I truly understand better why my institution has the goals it does and it motivates me more to help achieve these goals the nursing communtiy has set. I enjoyed being challeged with applying concept analysis to nursing concepts. And although research is not my favorite, I really found that I enjoyed learning about qualitative research. I was lucky to find a qualitative research article that went well with my nursing concept of quality of life and related to the my second choice of nursing concept spirituality. As a whole, many of my students struggled with parts of speech. The pictures are of a lesson about adjectives & nouns. After the direct instruction and whole group discussion, put the students into small groups of four to apply their learning using word and picture cards. The cards could be matched in a variety of ways. The students just had to explain their thinking to recieve credit. There are so many factors that go into being a great teacher. There is one factor that is most important to me, and that is building relationships with each and every child I interact with. In my personal experience, I did best in the classes that I had a strong relationship with my teachers. I always felt more comfortable approaching those teachers for help with class work of if I just needed someone to talk to. I want my children to be able to come to me for anything. I feel that by having a strong personal relationship my children will be more motivated to participate and succeed in their education.

The students know to email me with any work that they may need or any questions that they may have. I share documents with the students electronically and make myself available to them as they may need my assistance.
