After spending twelve years as Springfield (Ohio) City Commissioner with three successful campaigns of my own decision to share my leadership knowledge with others. This was a wonderful experience learning to research out the question, "Why are not there more Community Leaders, and what does it take to be a Community Leader?" As Vice-Mayor and Commissioner attending many ribbon cuttings, and events in the community, often I was the only minority present. My goal in writing about leadership is to encourage others that are minorities and those not included at the table of policy making to get involved in your local community.

That involvement includes volunteering to run for a commission seat, school board, or township position. We as the public often read stories in our Local Newspaper on a policy that the board of commission or school board has made that's unfavorable to us and our community. It is at that time we pick up the telephone and call the policy-making board and complain. It's too late, the policy has already been made and legislated.
