founded in November, 2015 under the purview of The Orono Arts Council, we are a group of artists with diverse interests who have come together to exchange, encourage, share and develop together. Through workshops, demonstrations and outreach programs, we will become recognized as an important part of the West Metro that provides a connection between the artists and the community, culminating in our main event each... I create art that reflects my experiences without being bound to particular mediums; my art reflects my passion to create in the moment. I am a photographer, a graphic designer, a henna artist, a painter, and a textile artist, to name a few. Photography for me is two things. It is a reflection of my love of nature and trying to capture the divine feeling of particular places.

It is also a way of telling a story – a story of my travels or story of the people I encounter. Sometimes it is most enjoyable to provoke a story – the story of “what is that picture” or “how did you get this image”. In my artwork I aim to create pieces that are a mesh of my Indian heritage and my current life - a mesh of folk art and graphic design, traditional styles with modern materials,... While I often teach and demonstrate the traditional techniques of henna, rangoli, and batik – I enjoy applying the designs and techniques in inventive ways. Maggie Merkow "Art of the Garden" show at Minnetonka center for the Arts I have an upcoming show at the concourse by Kincades Restaurant starting September one.

The focus of the 20-plus pieces will be Lake Superior and the show will run through the month of September. Sonja Hutchinson “Mill City” juried into the Northstar Watermedia National Exhibition. That show will be on view at the Lakeville Arts Center October 3 - November 14. Also, I have a new shared gallery space in the Northrup King Building. There is open studio on Saturday’s 12 - 4, 1st Thursday’s from 5-9 each month and during other special events like Art Attack and Art-a-Whirl. Studio 321.
