About Us Lab Fi
LAB operates in the Finnish cities of Lahti and Lappeenranta, and also on an online campus. It offers education in five fields: Business, Design and Fine Arts, Health Care and Social Services, Technology, and Tourism and Hospitality. We focus on supporting responsible, regenerative growth through intangible value creation, multipurpose materials, and human well-being. LAB provides education to 10,400 students and employs 600 teachers and RDI experts, which makes it the sixth largest university of applied sciences in Finland. LAB has an active approach where students and experts create growth in collaboration with business enterprises. In 2019, Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences merged and established a new institution; LAB University of Applied Sciences.
LAB started its operations on 1 January 2020 and together with Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT it forms LUT Universities, an international and experimental educational community. LAB has passed quality audit by the Finnish Education Evaluation Council (FINEEC). LAB University of Applied Sciences (Finnish: LAB-ammattikorkeakoulu) is a Finnish university of applied sciences that operates in Lahti, Lappeenranta and online. ♻️ Our meeting took place at FUTUREUM in Dolní Vítkovice, hosted by MATERIÁLOVÝ A METALURGICKÝ VÝZKUM s.r.o. and our steering group member Jakub Svrcek Švrček, who also coordinated the journey and arranged a tour of the CirkArena construction site. A true highlight was learning about the ambitious plan to transform a former hockey arena in #Třinec into a circular economy R&D center – a bold step toward sustainable innovation.
