although this image may look similar to the right, this digital negative is not inverted. It flips the light and the darks and as a result the ocean is now a dark, almost fabric like texture. this was the original digital negative that I coted in cyanotype. it was left in the sun and captured the beautiful waves. By decreasing the use of time, from 20 mins - 15 mins - 10 mins - 5 mins - 1 mins -10 secs, we get to feel not only the shorten time, but also... Brushwork can range from extremely smooth textures, to extremely thick (impasto), as in the various forms of expressionism, and what is called gestural.
Brushwork, like handwriting, can be highly individual and can be an important factor in identifying an artist’s work. It can also be highly expressive, that is, the application of the paint itself plays a role in conveying the emotion or meaning of the work. Experiencing the various ways while exploring and reducing the limited time you spent, such as one stroke drawing, or paint with multiple pens at the same time, etc. Actually, the less spare time I have, I get to paint and sketch chicly and with more spiritual aspects. paper, wastepaper, printing paper, tracing paper, wrapping paper, case board, refuse bags, plastic bags, ziplocks, leaves, board, acrylic, rags, toast, etc. This exercise is learn how to draw from observation and then using measurements to make it look more realistic.
Normally I find it very difficult to draw from observations or just in general without guidance. I find it difficult to get the proportion right so I tend not to draw very often. This exercise was a challenge for me but I did try my best. First task was to draw our hand from what we see. No tracing our hands on paper and we were given 15 minutes to do that. That was hard because I normally prefer sketching instread of making it look like real life.
As you can see this drawing is very basic as I didn't really know how to do. The shape of the hand itself looks a bit odd and a bit too wide for my hand. Next task was to then use some tracing paper to help. This step people may consider 'cheating' but I feel it's not but it's just a helping tool to make your art look better and realistic. We got a clear piece of plastic and drew a cross horizontally and vertically. Then we put our hand underneath the plastic and used a marker to trace the outlines of the hand with only using 1 eye to draw and observe.
We then do the same fro the A4 paper but we place the plastic paper on top. After tracing the lines onto the A4 we then get a graphite and shave it onto the paper. Taking a tissue paper we smudge it all over the paper. We rub away the colour outside the hand and start to fill in the little detail of the hand. I tried my best and the result was better than I expected it to be.Obviously it is not the best but decent for the first try. For the final piece we had to do the same but either draw our face or hand. I choose to do my hand as I am used to it, if I had to draw my face it may be difficult and I think I would find it hard so it may...
I did exactly the same thing as when I did the previous piece but this time I tried to make it look more realistic by shading it darker at certain area as well as... I think it by erasing it with a rubber is a really good technique to show the light areas as it can also help bring out the piece. Welcome to Faritza the artist!
