この度、本学は、アイルランドのダブリンシティ大学ならびにグリフィスカレッジとの間で、包括協定を締結いたしました(12月9日に公式に成立)。本学の海外協定校数は「28カ国・地域、77大学・教育研究機関」となり、これにより、米国、カナダ、英国、オーストラリア、ニュージーランド、そして今回のアイルランドと、主たる英語圏諸国の優れた大学との間で公式な関係を結ぶこととなりました。 この度の協定締結は、本学が建学以来追求し、積み重ねてきた国際教育交流の歩みにおける一つの大きな節目であると同時に、今後さらなる発展へとつながる新たな出発点でもあります。 今後は、交換留学など学生派遣による学生交流や、研究者交流等の相互往来と交流事業を通じて、両国、両大学における国際教育交流事業及び学術交流事業の発展を目指します。 アイルランドは、かつて「EUのお荷物」と呼ばれた時期から脱却し、現在では、外国直接投資(FDI)誘致と高価値産業(IT、医薬品など)の集積により、ユーロ圏でもトップクラスの経済成長を続けています。 一人当たりGDPも非常に高く、EU全体の成長を牽引する存在となっています。 ○ 首 都:ダブリン ○ 使用言語:英語、アイルランド語(ゲール語) ○ 国土面積:70,300km²(日本の約5分の1) ○ 人 口:約530万人 ○ 国民一人当たり名目GDP:約13万米ドル(2024/IMF) Prof Kieran Moran, professor of biomechanics in the School of Health and Human Performance at Dublin City University and a principal investigator at the Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics, features in the... Image: Damien Eagers The latest DTIF call has funded 27 projects in total ranging from AI, healthcare, advanced manufacturing to climate. Seven new projects have received a collective funding of nearly €39m under the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF), taking the total awarded as part of the latest call to a record €159m. The newest projects to join DTIF’s call seven range from medtech to life sciences, with the largest award this time around exceeding €9m. Ainm, a collaborative project between University College Dublin (UCD), Microsoft, Dell and a range of Irish companies – including Deciphex, Wavescope and xWave Technologies – received the largest funding award at €9.1m. The project aims to create hospital-ready AI-based decision support solutions.
