The Adult Learners’ Festival takes place from the 2nd to the 6th March 2026. Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for the Adult Learners’ Festival in 2025, which celebrated “Connecting Communities”. The adult and community education sector came together to hold 149 events across 26 counties in 2025! There were coffee mornings, yoga classes, cultural tours, and so much more! We want to promote the work you’re doing in adult and community education, and make learning accessible to everyone. We reach about 5 million people every year across all our channels. Submit your event today and join us. Acknowledging the fantastic work undertaken by adult learning projects throughout Ireland. The STAR Awards (Showcasing Teamwork, Awarding Recognition) celebrate the positive contribution that these projects make to individual adult learners, local communities and wider society. Adult learning organisation AONTAS is running its annual week-long festival to celebrate learning for everyone.
They are asking all adult learning providers and organisations across the island of Ireland to host events to raise awareness of the benefits of going back to education. The Adult Learners’ Festival this year runs from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th March, and the theme is “Connecting Communities.” Events can be taster sessions of existing courses, tours or talks, or coffee mornings – anything that brings people together in a learning environment. They just have to be free and open to the public. Last year, AONTAS had over 160 events across the country and media coverage in local and national news. The first 100 events can request a FREE resource pack to be posted out, with printed posters, pens, bookmarks, and flyers.

This annual festival, dedicated to celebrating adult and community education, and make learning accessible to everyone, will feature a myriad of events taking place across the country. Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) is thrilled to be part of this celebration, offering a wide variety of free taster classes across counties Cavan and Monaghan.
These sessions provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals to explore new interests and embrace the spirit of lifelong learning. Throughout the week, CMETB’s Adult Education Service will offer a number of free sessions including gardening, historical walks, smartphone workshops, cooking, meditation, skincare, and more. There will also be opportunities to meet with the CMETB Guidance and Information team, who can support adults considering a return to education or training. This year’s theme is ‘Connecting Communities’, showcasing how adult and community education serves as a bridge that connects communities across Ireland. In challenging times, adult and community education has the power to transform lives. It offers a path forward for us all, uniting people through education and helping to change lives for the better.
To close the festival, CMETB’s ‘The Journey Podcast’ will host a coffee morning at Monaghan Institute on Friday morning from 10am – 1pm. At the event, podcast hosts Martin and Eddie will talk to current students about their progression through education.
