Conference delegates on their excursion to Avondale. Wicklow Public Participation Network (PPN) and Wicklow County Council hosted the fifth National Public Participation Network Conference in the Arklow Bay Hotel held over two days. The conference was attended by over 200 delegates representing community and voluntary, social inclusion and environmental groups throughout the country as well as local authority officials, elected representatives and others who support the work... The theme of this year’s conference was Participation in Action. The Conference programme included presentations and workshops that showcased a wide and diverse selection of structures, processes, community work & policy development from across the PPN spectrum. Site visits were one of the highlights of the programme.

Some delegates travelled to Aughrim Community Sports and Leisure Centre where they were met by people representing a plethora of community groups in the Aughrim community. After sharing their stories everyone had a chance to try out an activator pole activity provided by the Wicklow Local Sports Partnership. Co Wicklow Public Participan Network (PPN) is a network of community groups from all the municipal districts in Co Wicklow that focuses on environmental, social inclusion and other community activities across the county. Membership is free and there is a diverse membership base that includes: youth groups, residents associations, community councils, sports groups, disability groups, women’s groups, older people’s groups and much more.
