CCT is part of the Central Applications Office (CAO) system. The Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) of Ireland have delegated to CAO the task of processing centrally applications to their first year undergraduate courses. CAO is a not-for-profit company registered in Ireland, required to deal with applications in an efficient and fair manner. Please visit the CAO Handbook and www.cao.ie for more information on applying to CCT programmes through the CAO system. Applicants under the age of 23 years, need to apply for full time undergraduate courses via the CAO. The CAO applications facility for 2020/2021 academic year is now closed.

If you have already applied to the CAO, you can avail of the Change of Mind facility until the 1st of July to reorder your course preferences. If you have not already applied to the CAO this year, you can apply for ‘vacant places’ at the end of August. Please see the CAO website for more details. We have availability for a range of full-time Higher Certificate (Level 6), Ordinary Degree (Level 7) and Honours Degree (Level 8) undergraduate programmes. The Central Applications Office (CAO) processes applications for first-time admission to universities in KwaZulu-Natal, including DUT. You may apply to several institutions at the same time via the CAO www.cao.ac.za

All international undergraduate and postgraduate applicants should apply as early as possible. Applications for Master’s and Doctoral studies do not go via the CAO, but are made directly to the relevant departments. You will need a letter of acceptance from the chosen department, as well as a Letter of Undertaking from the International Office before you can apply for your study visa. If you have foreign qualifications and wish to study in South Africa, the department to which you are applying may require you to apply to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) or the Matriculation... Those applying for diploma programmes need a SAQA evaluation, and those applying for degree programmes need a Matriculation Board evaluation. Obtain the application form from the SAQA offices or download it from the SAQA website www.saqa.

NOTE: SAQA needs both the document in the original language and the sworn translation. The Central Applications Office (CAO) is a registered NON-PROFIT COMPANY (Reg.No.2007/002819/08) that is the only organisation authorised to recruit and process applications for admissions to the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Mangosuthu University of... Our participating institutions offer 1 070 programmes, and with just ONE APPLICATION, you can apply for up to six programmes at any of our member or partner institutions. You do not have to complete a separate application for each institution.

You do not have to pay a separate administration fee to each institution. You only have to pay ONE ADMINISTRATION FEE and your application will be processed and made available to any six institutions to which you applied. When you want to update or change your application to any of the institutions in this Handbook, there is one office to contact. Discussion and planning for the CAO was initiated in 1993 by the postschool institutions in KwaZulu-Natal. They were: University of Natal (Durban); University of Natal (Pmb); Mangosuthu Technikon; ML Sultan Technikon; Natal Technikon; University of Durban-Westville; University of South Africa (UNISA); and University of Zululand.
