Our signature leadership experience is centered on three days of battle. You will be challenged to think more creatively and critically through the use of dynamic modules with modern leadership lessons anchored on the foundation of historical case studies. This program is designed for individuals and small groups interested in a powerful leadership development experience with an emphasis on strategic positioning and networking. Students will be required to take courses on ‘power structures behind racial differences’ in 2025 Gettysburg College is incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in its curriculum and prioritizing candidates for faculty positions who contribute to its mandatory “race, power, and equity” courses. One public policy scholar told The College Fix that this is “another attempt to push certain political ideologies on students.”

Starting in the fall of 2025, all Gettysburg students “will take a course that considers the institutional, structural, and cultural components of race, power, and inequity,” according to the school’s description of the new... “The course goes beyond recognition of racial differences to explore power structures behind racial differences,” the description states. This program is part of the Signature Leadership Experiences offered by NRECA in partnership with FCCS. Decisions made, opportunities missed, passions sparked and conversations avoided changed the course of our country. Today, this historically sacred setting is the site of a powerful, soles-on-the-ground program that looks to those leaders, lessons and legacy with a clear, contemporary purpose: to set the stage for you to prepare... Designed for relevance and directed by seasoned guides and instructors, this program takes experiential learning to a higher level. This multi-day course examines the leadership styles, decisions and principles displayed by military leaders before, during and after the battle. Through classroom discussion, video illustrations and visits to the Gettysburg battlefield, participants will learn how to apply these timeless leadership lessons to current organizational situations and challenges. NRECA course credit will be awarded only for the Gettysburg Leadership Experience (and/or FCCS's Lewis & Clark Experience).

Credit will not be awarded for other FCCS programs. Board Leadership Certificate (BLC) – Completion of the Gettysburg Leadership Experience (GLE) and/or Lewis & Clark Experience (LCE) yields two credits (for each program) to the director seeking to attain NRECA's Board Leadership Certificate. The Gettysburg Curriculum aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to navigate a rapidly changing global environment and seeks to inspire our students to lead lives of meaning, service, and consequence. There are two hallmarks of the Gettysburg Curriculum: While completing their studies at Gettysburg College, students must complete 32 course units, a major field of study (including a major capstone experience), and the following curricular requirements. For Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education, students must complete a total of 36 course units.

The Curriculum has four core components: First-Year Seminar. The Gettysburg Curriculum begins with our first-year seminars, which offer small, intense intellectual communities that foster active learners engaged with a wide range of topics. For students entering Gettysburg College Fall of 2025 or later the Curriculum has four core components. Classes counting for First-Year critical skills and/ or Gettysburg Seminars may not count toward Modes of Inquiry. Classes counting for the Modes of Inquiry courses may also satisfy one of the Perspectives and Social Change requirements.
