My favorite and personal go-to resource is provided by Moodle HQ – MoodleDocs. Moodle has a vibrant and diverse community that works together to maintain documentation in MoodleDocs and other community-driven outlets. Aside from manually navigating to the MoodleDocs website, MoodleDocs is integrated into our LMS environment. In the footer of Trine University’s Moodle pages, you will see a little block of information that looks like this: It briefly displays the user that you are logged in as, the course you are visiting, as well as some other helpful hyperlinks. The top link in this block of information is described as ‘Help and documentation.’

This link should appear on any page of our Moodle LMS: Clicking this link will pull up the corresponding MoodleDocs or help documentation. For example, if you are editing a forum within your course and you navigate down to this link, you will be directed to the MoodleDocs resource page for all things related to forums. Find everything you need to start creating and managing your courses, plus a range of guides and resources to help you get more out of Moodle. Got questions about your MoodleCloud Standard plan? Before students access a Moodle course for the first time, there are a few preparations instructors can make to ensure that students are able to get to work on the first day of class. It is important to manage time wisely in a 7-week course, so careful planning and early communication are key.

This article presents a few strategies for getting students on the right track in the first few days of the term. The FTC also provides just-in-time faculty training opportunities and recorded training sessions. Attending at least one training session for Moodle upgrades is highly recommended. Moodle has several new features that allow you to customize how your course appears to students and guests.

Before you start, you may need the following: The course image replaces the default colored boxes shown above a course title in the Dashboard and My courses pages. The course summary only appears when browsing or searching courses on the Moodle Home page. You can make it easier for students to find what they need in the collapsible course index and the Moodle course page and minimize cognitive load with a few simple formatting tweaks. The Timeline and Calendar features on the Moodle Dashboard are designed to help students manage their time and responsibilities. The custom certificate allows an instructor to distribute a certificate to students upon completion of an activity, module, course, etc.

The certificate is a PDF, and can be customized per student automatically. There are two steps you must complete: Before creating a certificate, you will need a background image file. Now that you have added the certificate activity, it is time to customize it. For more information on adding and editing an assignment, read the following documentation. Note that MoodleDocs does not show the same Moodle appearance, but the functionality of the settings is the same.
