The mission of UCD Archives is to achieve the highest standards in the performance of its core functions: To identify and preserve collections of archives, papers and manuscripts of national significance, safeguarding the interests of depositors and supporting the teaching and research needs of the university and the wider community. To identify and preserve those records of the university which are evidence of university functions and which have enduring significance, to support administration and research. The College Archives form an important separate collection within Manuscripts & Archives. They contain the records of Trinity College Dublin from its foundation in the late 16th century to the present day. The Library continues to acquire all types of relevant documents generated by departments, administrative offices, College officers, the Library, and student clubs and societies. The main divisions within the College records are: Readers are welcome to examine the catalogues of listed College Archives in the Manuscripts & Archives Reading Room, and to order original documents to consult (subject to some access restrictions). Records that contain personal information, such as certain student records, are not released for consultation until 100 years have passed since their creation date. Leaflets, memoranda, notices, pamphlets, programmes and registers dating from 1883, when the Jesuits took control of University College, Dublin until 1908. The vast houses on this cobblestone street have run the gamut from Georgian grandeur to tenement squalor within the 300 years of their existence. Now, Number 14 Henrietta Street has been restored as a museum. It tells the story of the house’s journey from being the grand residence of a family of four in the 1720s to becoming home to over 100 people by 1911. In Temple Bar, nestled in a modern, environmentally-friendly building, is The Design House – a thriving hub of creativity. The Design House was founded by Irish fashion designer, Bebhinn Flood. It’s the creative home to several in-house designers. With design and retail under the one roof, it’s like buying straight from the studios. I needed machines and retail all in the same place. The walls host a gallery of art.

Over 60 designers, mostly Irish, sell their creations here. There’s cutting-edge fashion, jewellery, bridal, vintage and a variety of crafts.
