Check back here for the unofficial local and county results, which will be updated as they become available. Vote totals will be listed for all races. Winning candidates will have an X in front of their names. Ballots that are mailed in and postmarked by June 10 can be accepted until June 16, so results will continue to change after the close of polls on election night. Provisional ballots are not counted until after all mail-in ballots are tallied. Detailed information and results on every race can be found on the county’s website.

Preliminary results of New Jersey’s 2025 legislative elections started coming in Tuesday night, after the vast majority of in-person polls closed at 8 p.m. But as of early Wednesday morning, several of the most competitive races were still too close to call. Polls in parts of Passaic County remained open until 9 p.m., after Democrats argued that bomb threats and other disruptions on Tuesday had prevented voters from casting ballots.
A Superior Court judge allowed the polls to stay open an extra hour. Two Assembly seats are up for grabs in each of the state’s 40 voting districts. The results below, compiled by the Associated Press, will be updated as they are reported by county election officials, so please check back later or refresh the page to see the latest tallies. The big surprise in Passaic County on Election Day came at the very top of the ticket. Unofficial results show Democrats likely swept the county-level races as expected, retaining the sheriff's post and winning back full control of the Board of Commissioners. However, the GOP's presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is on track to win Passaic County's vote for the first time in three tries.
The former and projected future president lost the county in 2016 by more than 43,000 votes to Hillary Clinton. In 2020, the margin was 37,000 votes to President Joe Biden. Trump nonetheless was winning the county by more than 6,500 votes in early Wednesday results released by the county clerk. The results included all early voting and Election Day votes by machine. Mail-in ballots had been partially processed — fewer than 1,000 remained — while rare provisional and cure ballots were pending. However, there were still nearly 19,000 outstanding vote-by-mail ballots that might still be eligible through Nov.
11 if postmarked on Election Day. The Trump turnaround came as he narrowed once large losing margins in historically Democratic towns, such as Haledon and Prospect Park, and flipped Biden-supporting Hawthorne. Two municipalities that backed Clinton and Biden and are entirely represented by Democrats at the local level, Little Falls and Woodland Park, also apparently came out in favor of Trump this year, county records... Votes for a few towns were not provided by county election officials due to privacy concerns. City by city, town by town, New Jersey clearly turned bluer in this year’s gubernatorial election.
