The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) is a national, not-for-profit organization promoting the safety of motorcyclists with programs in rider training, operator licensing and public information. Qualification of New Jersey training instructors goes beyond MSF certification. There is no way to verify equivalent qualifications outside of New Jersey. A road test waiver is only issued for successful completion of a NJMVC approved course. This varies by training provider.

Generally speaking, training bikes range from 125cc to 499cc. According to MSF regulations, it is not permissible to conduct training on bikes larger than 499cc. (We have a 92% pass rate which means that 92% of the students who take the BRC1 with us successfully complete the course and get a motorcycle license).

In a typical BRC or BRC2 course, the maximum number of students participating in a course is 12. For individuals that want more individualized training during the riding portion of the course, there will be one (1) instructor for every three (3) students during the riding portion of the BRCSP course. For those individuals that want private lessons during the riding portion of the course, there will be one (1) instructor for every one (1) student during the riding portion of the course. Each of our professional instructors have an extensive background and experience in riding motorcycles, the motorcycle industry and in providing valuable instruction. In addition, each instructor is certified and licensed by the appropriate state licensing agency and by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), a nationally recognized curriculum provider. To become a professional motorcycle safety trainer, these dedicated individuals undergo an intense Instructor Preparation (IP) course that takes months to complete.

Once the training program is complete, each instructor is placed on a probationary period to help reinforce the techniques learned during the IP program. In addition to the IP course, some instructors have obtained specialized training including 3WBRC, SRC and others. Finally, each instructor is required to attend annual continuing professional education to update and refine their skills. Each candidate must meet the following minimum qualifications and expectations for the position: Each course starts promptly at the time noted in the schedule. Each student must realize that if a person is late for a course, he/she will not be allowed to continue.

Each student must also understand that if a course has started, he/she is not entitled to a refund and must re-register for another course and pay the appropriate fees. What is the primary advantage of Class: M1 private 1:1 training?Our private 1:1 training model offers a very different experience over the common state-run group courses. It’s much more efficient, effective, relaxed and, most importantly, safe. Our 1-day basic course covers the same fundamental skills as any comprehensive new-rider course, but we’re able to move at a client’s own pace and focus on their individual needs. We use helmet intercoms, providing enhanced confidence and immediate feedback.

Where is the training location?Class: M1 provides a large, controlled, secured, safe, private training-range for our clients. (No public lots!) Our exclusive facility in North Hollywood is open 7-days a week. Additional locations coming soon! The MSF Basic RiderCourse teaches core skills and can be a major step towards earning your license. Motorcycles are provided for your use. Successful completion of this course is your best path to a motorcycle license. Course completion can also earn you a discount on insurance. The MSF Basic RiderCourse is designed for beginning riders, ages 16 and up. The MSF has offered rider training for over fifty years, serving over 10 million motorcyclists nationwide. For the Basic RiderCourse, you’ll have about 5 hours of learning, often through an online eCourse, before you get on a bike.

Then 10 hours of on-motorcycle training, spread over two days. You will learn about the different types of motorcycles, layout and operation of the basic controls, and how to become a safer, more responsible rider. Your MSF-certified RiderCoach will guide you through the basic skills of straight-line riding, stopping, shifting, and turning, gradually progressing to swerving and emergency braking. This online course is a key component of the full hands-on Basic RiderCourse, but can also be completed as a stand-alone program without enrolling in a hands-on course. Graphics and videos illustrate the lessons to help you understand principles of motorcycling and determine whether motorcycling is right for you. The Basic eCourse alone is NOT accepted as a license waiver by any state’s DMV, or as a motorcycle license or learner’s permit.

Spanish language option also available. The course concludes with a classroom knowledge test and hands-on a riding skill evaluation. Once your RiderCoach hands you the course-completion card, you’ll be happy knowing that you’ve gone the extra mile to develop your own safe riding techniques.
