📣 @OpenAI o3 and o4-mini are now available in GitHub Copilot! o3 is designed for deep coding workflows and complex technical problem solving while o4-mini focuses on efficiency. These latest reasoning models are now made available in GitHub Copilot and GitHub models, bringing next-generation problem solving, structured reasoning, and coding intelligence directly into your development workflow. O4-mini is rolling out across all paid GitHub Copilot plans, and O3 is available to Enterprise and Pro+ plans. Users can access them through the model picker in Visual Studio Code and in GitHub Copilot Chat on github.com. Copilot Enterprise administrators will need to enable access to these models through a new policy in Copilot settings.
An administrator can verify availability by checking individual Copilot settings and confirming that the policy is set to enabled for a specific model. Once enabled, users will see the model in the Copilot chat model selector in VS Code and on itub.com. This public preview is part of xAI's strategy to expand access to Grok3. On the same day, Grok3 also became available through Microsoft’s Azure AI Foundry platform, along with its smaller version, Grok3Mini, both offering reliable service level agreements, ensuring they are dependable choices for enterprises. In addition, xAI further opens up Grok3 via API services, facilitating its integration into various applications. While Grok3 performs exceptionally well in technical and reasoning tasks, there have been reports of slight shortcomings in handling simpler tasks. xAI anticipates addressing these issues in ongoing model optimizations. xAI encourages developers to experience the preview version on GitHub Models, share feedback, and participate in community discussions to further advance the model.
