Hathitrust Digital Library Collection
The HathiTrust Digital Library provides access to a collection of millions of books and journals digitized from libraries around the world. Materials are dated from 1500 to the present, and cover subjects typical of any large North American research library. Items in the public domain — more than a third of the collection — are fully available for everyone, and items held in copyright are full-text searchable. Patrons who have print disabilities can obtain downloaded copies of anything in the HathiTrust collection by using HathiTrust’s Accessible Text Request Service. Content includes materials from the Google Books Project, the Internet Archive, and digitized collections from member libraries. HathiTrust is a partnership of academic and research institutions that operates a large-scale digital library. The HathiTrust collection contains over 18 million items digitized at member libraries or through preservation projects such as Google Books and the Internet Archive. UW-Madison Libraries has contributed close to half a million volumes to the HathiTrust Digital Library. HathiTrust's catalog search looks for your keywords in specific fields (such as author or title). De-select Full View Only to search entire collection, including in-copyright and public domain material. The full-text search option searches within fields such as author and title as well as within the body of the work. Deselecting Full view only expands your search to include material that may not contain full text.
