In the Empire State, the storm system could dump three to five inches of snow lower Hudson Valley on Tuesday, according to Fox Weather meteorologists. The Big Apple may experience some flurries early Tuesday, but it will likely shift to rain, the meteorologists said. New York City should expect one to two inches of precipitation. Northwest New Jersey, meanwhile, could get one to three inches of snow on Tuesday. The Big Apple typically records 4.8 inches of snowfall in December, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The first winter storm of the season could dump up to eight inches of snow for some outer reaches of the tri-state, though many likely won't see much more than a few flakes before...
