Introduction To Moodle For Administrators Moodle Academy

Our Moodle Administrator learning pathway builds upon the fundamentals covered in Moodle Admin Basics. The pathway takes you from your first steps managing a basic Moodle or MoodleCloud site, to confident proficiency in all aspects of site administration. You can ​​mix and match courses to suit your interests, expertise and availability. Take a comprehensive self-paced program or select individual short courses. Join our live webinar events to learn more and have your questions answered by our expert presenters. If you're new to Moodle, we suggest you begin with our Introduction to Moodle course, before working through the beginner courses.

At Beginner level your learning will focus on how to manage users and courses from within the admin interface including: Explore our Moodle Admin Basics program. Twice a year, we host a MOOC on our site Learn Moodle for educators wishing to teach with Moodle. However, there has been nothing similar -and free- for new Moodle administrators. Until now! Starting on February 17, you’ll be able to enrol in our new Moodle Admin Basics course on Learn Moodle.

This will be a self-paced course teaching you the very basics of Moodle Administration and it will always be available on our site, so you can return to the content any time you need... We have designed the course for anyone new to Moodle administration, and it is particularly suited to new MoodleCloud users. The content and suggested activities will help get you started quickly on your Moodle site and enable you to take your first steps as a Moodle Admin. There will also be a new playlist of 26 Moodle Admin Basics videos on our Moodle HQ Youtube channel. The course will not have real-time facilitators, but our global Moodle community is always here to help! If you’re working through the MOOC and have a query, we encourage you to come along to the Moodle community forums and post your question with the hashtag #AdminBasics.

Moodle LMS is one of the most popular open source learning management system in the world. It is used by more than 333 million users across 242 countries. Recently Moodle turned out 20 years old which is a huge achievement considering the amount of efforts involved in it including development and maintaining. New Moodle users often look to get started guides to get acquainted with Moodle easily. Moodle Academy Product Manager, Jessica Gramp explains, “Our goal is to provide ways for everyone in the Moodle community to improve their understanding of Moodle, and ability to use its tools. It also covers Moodle’s flexible and extensible structure, the use of plugins and how the Moodle community contributes to its development. It is recommended as a prerequisite course for anyone not already familiar with Moodle, including developers who can move on to the Moodle Development Environment course. Set up your Moodle Development Environment is a beginner course, developed by Rajneel Totaram and Jonathan Deavers, that will help PHP developers get familiar with the Moodle development environment over an estimated three hours... It will introduce participants to the Moodle developer community and basic development tasks and standards. This includes setting up a Moodle development environment; Moodle source code management; Moodle code checking tools; creating a basic plugin from a template; and installing and uninstalling plugins.
