A library research database is a searchable collection of information. Libraries pay for subscriptions to databases in order to provide their users access to the best information. Library databases contain different types of sources, usually scholarly articles from academic journals, newspaper articles, magazine articles, book reviews, ebooks, specialized encyclopedias, and/or streaming video. The Macdonald DeWitt Library at SUNY Ulster subscribes to more than 60 library databases. DiscoverDeWitt is the library's search tool that pulls together information from all of our subscription databases as well as our print materials so you can search all library resources at once. The results can be overwhelming at times so it can be helpful to search the more targeted collection of a subject-specific library database.

You can find them on the Library page of the Portal found under Academic Resources. Our Library sits at the center of the Stone Ridge campus, offering an inviting environment for students to work independently or collaboratively. We offer books, online magazines/journals, ebooks, streaming films and full-text articles. Resources are accessible to students on and off-campus via our Portal – My.SUNYUlster.edu. The public may see available resources through our Library Overview. Resource sharing through SUNYConnect and other area libraries also provides students with access to over 18 million volumes and thousands of digital resources.

You don't have to be in the library to access library resources. Online and KCSU students have the same access to resources, including print books, as students who attend classes on the main campus. If you are unable to come to campus, books can be mailed to the Kingston Center or to your home. Home mailing is for students who reside outside of Ulster County and are enrolled in a completely online program.
