I have a passion for learning, business, fitness, food, and planning. This e-Portfolio will show you the coursework I completed for my Associates Degree, my short and long-term goals, and activities I enjoy outside of working. I was born on Travis Air Force Base in Solano County, California and moved to Park City, Utah when I was one.

I was been raised in Park City and loved growing up in a small ski town. Growing up in a small town I always dreamed of graduating high school and going to college in a big city or someplace far far away from home. I ended up leaving home, but not going very far. I was at Utah State for a semester and absolutely hated it. The school, the town and the people just weren't for me. So I decided to come back home and go to SLCC.

This was the best decision I could have made because SLCC is already a better fit for all my academic and locational needs. I hope to one day be an entrepreneur and run my own business. On a personal note, I have a love for animals and grew up with all kinds of them. I currently have two dogs and a cat but I have had bunnies and horses too. In my free time, I love spending time with my animals along with my friends and family. I also love skiing, dirt biking, camping, and art.

In high school, I never took school seriously. I often thought that I wouldn’t go to college because I wasn't academically successful. I went to Utah State partially to avoid the embarrassment of being that one girl who didn't go to college and still lived with her parents. Although, a part of me wanted to continue learning by going to college, I just wasn't sure if that was the path I wanted to take. Despite not initially thinking college was for me, I still longed for the college experience I had heard so much about. During my time at Utah State I started to feel lost and alone.

I grew anxious and worried about the future. I longed for something I couldn't put my finger on. This, along with all of the other contributing factors, made me decide to move back home and further my education at SLCC. I had discovered that what I was longing for were teachers that were passionate about their subjects and deeply involved with their students learning and education. As an advocate of life-long learning I have always joked that I would be a career student if college was free! I studied psychology and criminal justice as an undergrad but I have so many interests and was undecided about what I wanted to study after finishing my undergraduate degree. I decided to wait until I discovered the perfect career before continuing on my educational journey. Over the years I have had the pleasure of exploring different industries including real estate management, child advocacy, substitute teaching, healthcare, and the service industry. In January 2017 I discovered what I thought was the best job I have ever had -- virtual ESL instructor. Not only did I have the freedom to work form home before my children woke up, but I truly enjoyed my time with students.

I learned through practice that one benefit to one-on-one classes, was the ability to personalize the lessons for each individual. What started as simple reward systems used to motivate students, quickly evolved into creating digital games that were easily customizable in many ways such as for to specific learner needs or to meet lesson... Unfortunately, rumors started circulating in late 2019 about big changes coming within the country where the company was based. I started exploring options where I could utilize my new skill-set and passions. That's when I discovered the field of instructional design. I started exploring the options for pursuing this path and discovered the program at the University of South Florida.

I created a few pros and cons spreadsheets and finally, in the midst of a global pandemic, I decided to apply for the program. I figured, why not? I had experience in distance learning going back to middle school and while I loved the freedom it is supposed to give, I always felt like something was lacking. Something I believed I would in this program. Fast-forward through many all-nighters, so much time in synchronous group meetings, and an uncountable amount of caffeine, the knowledge and skills that I have developed throughout this program have led to an extremely satisfying... The most satisfying part of this journey is that I finally have use for all my research-loving and spreadsheet-making skills!

Hi, I am Ken a Graphic Designer based out of Idaho and Bali. Am focused solely on the Vitamin and Dietary Supplement Industry. Am married with a young son, we like the oceans, mountains, beaches, rivers at each of the places we are at. Also love to create things whether it be digital or physical. Been involved with Supplement Manufacturing Industry for over 15 years. My art focuses on the concepts of perspective and ideology.

We are constantly being exposed to different ideologies and experiences that we are not accustomed to. As a result, we tend to conclude with only one perspective: to see it on the bigger picture. For example, when you are traveling, time is of the essence. You want to take a picture for memories, so you zoom out and take a snapshot of a scenery that captures more of what you see. But what if I tell you that in the little details, there is a story that has yet to be discovered? Sadly, these experiences come to us in rapid successions; a rate in which we rarely have the time to stop and process.

In rare occasions that we do, we are able to appreciate the beautiful, small things that comprise that bigger picture. That being said, my art and photography juxtaposes this concept of a broad, immense perspective while zooming into a space that could have easily been missed.
