The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions (HEIs). Our preparations were governed by the guidelines and procedures set out in our Code of Practice, which outlines how we prepared our submissions. The excellence of research at UCL and its positive real-world impact has improved since 2014, according to the Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF) assessment results.UCL is second in the UK for research power by... For this, 93 per cent of our research was graded 4* ‘world leading’ and 3* ‘internationally excellent’.
