The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum's Education Department staff conducts educational programs designed for K-12, college and university students, adult learners, and the general public. These programs include classroom workshops, Museum programs, teacher development seminars, and outreach. Teachers can sharpen their skills by attending a variety of professional development workshops that draw on the rich resources and knowledgeable staff at the FDR Library and Museum. We Rule: Civics for All of US is a new education initiative from the National Archives that promotes civic literacy and engagement. We're providing teachers with programming, curricula, and exceptional field trip experiences both online and at our locations across the country.

With the support of AT&T and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Audio and Video Preservation Lab, the Roosevelt Library is pleased to present two new Roosevelt Curriculum Hubs that will allow teachers... Each speech will have a short curriculum package, including copies of historic documents and photographs, lesson plans and classroom activities for teachers to use with their students to delve more deeply into the topics... Comprehensive curriculum guides are available to introduce students to key topics of the Roosevelt era. Using primary source documents, photographs, and accompanied by study questions and other resources from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library archives, the guides are designed for use by teachers of civics, citizenship, government, economics, geography, fine arts, history, writing and journalism. The curriculum guides can be effectively used by students from 3rd to 12th grade.

Most students are required to answer document based questions in their tests and assignments at school. Learn more about using primary sources for research. The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum opened its doors to all new 21st century exhibits and our state-of-the-art DeVos Learning Center in June 2016. With that came the opportunity, resources, space, and technology to offer a range of programming never before possible. Using classrooms and exhibits, we have something for everyone.

Our programs focus on American History, Civics and Government, Leadership, Betty Ford, Civil Discourse, Space, and more. Its Education Department staff conducts educational programs designed for K-12, college and university students; adult learners; and the general public. These programs include classroom workshops, Museum programs, teacher development seminars, and outreach. All K-12 educational programs at the Franklin D.

Roosevelt Library and Museum are provided free of charge and are supported in part by the Robert L. Bier Education Center of the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute. The National Park Service offers interpretive programs for school groups that are not included in the list of National Archives programs below. Wallace Visitor and Education Center serves as a joint visitor and education center for those who come to the Franklin D.

Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and the Home of FDR National Historic Site. The Center's facilities include three classrooms for interactive and hands-on activities, each with a fifty student capacity, and state-of-the-art audiovisual facilities with distance learning and video conferencing capability. The Wallace Center also serves tourists visiting the Presidential Library and Roosevelt Home with an introductory film and orientation exhibits, museum store (teacher discounts for classroom materials are available), seasonal cafe and ample restroom... Students get a ‘dog’s-eye-view’ of the lives and times of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt as told by a historical interpreter dressed as Fala, FDR’s famous Scottish Terrier.

Sharing a book he has written about the Roosevelts, Fala engages students in a biographical overview of the Roosevelt era (which includes a question and answer period) in a way that is entertaining, informative... Following the presentation, students explore the museum galleries with a Fala-themed guided- note-taking activity book provided to them as an educational activity and a souvenir keepsake of their visit. Education Specialist Jeff Urbin conducts a distance learning session in our studio. Through its Distance Learning Program the Pare Lorentz Center now has the ability to bring many of our workshops, resources, lectures, and presentations directly into the classroom free of charge. Though nothing can replace the thrill of visiting the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in person, we realize that due to budgetary, time, and geographic considerations this is impossible for some. These real-time, interactive presentations conducted via video conferencing allow students, teachers and community groups the opportunity to experience the documents, artifacts, and expertise of the Roosevelt Library staff from wherever they may be.
