Specifically, compared with non-workaholics, workaholics were more prone to engage in job crafting behavior in terms of seeking resources and crafting towards strengths, and therefore less likely to have reduced well-being experience. Correspondingly, there is a growing attention given by scholars to work intensification which refers to an increase of amount of effort employees need to invest in their work [1]. Work intensification, as a type of job demand, may deplete mental and physical resources of employees and therefore lead to reduced workplace well-being [3,4].

Supporting this notion, previous research has shown that work intensification is related to higher emotional exhaustion and lower job satisfaction above and beyond “conventional” job demands [1,4,5].
