tpt for 1st grade

On TPT (Teachers Pay Teachers), 1st grade resources include worksheets, activities, games, and lesson plans designed to support young learners as they build foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. These materials focus on phonics, early reading fluency, sentence writing, addition and subtraction within 20, and number recognition. Educators can browse resources that reinforce classroom instruction, encourage hands-on learning, and make learning engaging for students. First grade is the first year of formal elementary education, where children typically ages 6–7 build on kindergarten skills to become more independent. The curriculum emphasizes developing reading, writing, and math skills through activities like phonics lessons, storytelling exercises, word problems, and hands-on experiences. Key goals include improving reading fluency, writing complete sentences, mastering addition and subtraction, and beginning to explore basic geometry and measurement.

These 1st grade resources help educators create structured, effective lessons that keep students engaged and provide differentiated support. Teachers can use worksheets and activities to strengthen core skills, prepare students for ongoing learning, and make education both fun and educational. Students benefit from interactive exercises that reinforce lessons and promote confidence in their abilities. First grade is fast and furious; so much to teach in so little time! Have you heard of TpT credits? Chances are you haven’t. And that’s because it’s one of TpT’s best kept secrets. But don’t worry, I’m about to let you in on the secret on how to get free TpT resources. And it will literally pay off for you! TpT credits can be used to partially or fully pay for paid resources on TpT.

Yep, you can get free TpT resources with TpT credits. You earn credits by leaving feedback on paid TpT resources. And while we are here… does that mean you should not leave feedback on free resources? No! Of course not! While you will not get any credits for leaving feedback, it is super helpful to the seller to have the extra feedback so that he or she knows what you like or don’t like.

Think of it like a thank you to the seller for giving you something for free. Spread TpT kindness…leave feedback on freebies! 🙂 Head to the TpT website and click “My Purchases.” Then, click FREE resources and be a kind human and leave feedback to help the seller that gave you a free resource! 🙂 #winkwink

Here you can find our growing collection of digital activities made for use with Easel by TPT! A free digital tool you can use with any LMS! Back to school time is hectic, and there’s a lot to think about. However, these 5 first grade resources for back to school make those first few weeks of school so much easier. Here are my top 5 favorite back to school resources and how I use them in my classroom. In my first grade classroom, I take a few weeks to review letter sounds, names, and formation at the beginning of the year.

My students also create our classroom alphabet at the same time. Both of these resources are must haves for the beginning of the year. I have whole post here explaining how I use these resources. You can find the alphabet template free in my free resource library. The letter booklet can be found here in my TpT shop and includes two different versions. My decodable partner plays (find them on TpT here) are one of my favorite resources for the whole year, and I like to get them ready right from the beginning.

These easy to use and perfect for practicing fluency and decoding in a fun way. I’ve created 60 original plays for 43 different phonics spelling patterns. Perfect for the beginning, middle, and end of the year! If you’re following a structured literary approach and need more decodable texts, these decodable partner plays are exactly what you need! I’ve been using these for years as I worked on creating more and more, and I’ve never had a student who didn’t love them. If you want to read more about these, I have a blog post here.

My K and 1 Intervention resources are perfect for a whole lot more than just struggling students. This set of 12 reusable activities is perfect for the small group table at the beginning of the year while you’re reviewing and reinforcing those important, foundational phonics skills. You guessed it. I have a whole blog post here if you want to see exactly what’s included.
