Some programs require official transcripts before review of applications and others do not. Please contact the program to find out their requirements. The Graduate School requires a minimum of your bachelor's degree awarded transcript upon your admission to any graduate program, including non-degree seeking. If at the time of your admission your official bachelor's degree awarded transcript has not been received, a registration hold will be put on your account until it is received. For transcripts to be considered official, they must be sent directly to us from your previous university, or through a third party vendor such as National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment. If your bachelor's degree is still in progress at the time of your admission, please wait to order your official transcript until your bachelor's degree has been officially conferred.
A transcript with in-progress work is not sufficient to remove your transcript hold, and you will be required to reorder. Your bachelor's degree must be awarded before you begin your graduate program. If your bachelor's degree was awarded by UM, you will not need to order an official transcript unless your program requests it, as we can access this information internally. This page provides a comprehensive list of all forms available through the Registrar's Office. Online forms require authentication using a NetID and password, and PDF forms can be submitted to the designated email address indicated on the form from a UM student or employee email address. This form is used to change to or from online-only status.
It may only be submitted through the 15th class day of the requested semester. Disclaimer: First-semester undergraduate students must contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office instead of submitting this form. If a student attended after 1992, they may view unofficial grade and transcript information through DAWGS. Because Montana Western is a semester school, grades will not appear on official or unofficial transcripts until after the semester ends. However, students may view completed block course grades typically 1 week after the block has ended through their DAWGS grade report. The Office of the Registrar does not issue unofficial transcripts, however, your unofficial transcript can be accessed in your MyMSU account. If you attended Montana State University after 1989 you have access to MyMSU. MyMSU allows access to personal information such as transcripts, class schedules, grades, financial aid packages, and pay stubs. You may access MyMSU from anywhere and at any time, even if you are no longer a student at MSU. If you do not remeber your Net ID and Password, you can reset it by using the claim/reclaim Net ID. Click the Registration & Records tab, then click "Unofficial Transcript" located in the Transcript & Enrollment Verification Card. For transcript level, select "all levels," and select "web transcript" for transcript type. Then click "submit." Your unofficial transcript should now display.
