WEST MILFORD — An early-morning fire destroyed a popular Italian restaurant this morning, authorities say. Café Amore was completely engulfed in flames just shortly after police and fire units responded to the scene – and the restaurant is a total loss, said Lt. John Matarese of the West Milford Police Department. A police officer responded to the scene on Warwick Turnpike at 3:31 a.m. today and found the building was covered in thick smoke and saw fire inside the building, Matarese said. Local firefighters made attempts to control the fire, but the entire structure was soon engulfed in flames, Matarese added.
