In elective, one of the major projects that our class did was Genius Hour. Genius Hour is a project that involves you finding an idea that inspires you, and creating it. For instance, I wanted to learn how to draw a realistic hand. I had to make a video and slideshow presentation for what I did. I feel that this was my best work because I spent a lot of time on my final product, as well as the Ted Talk. I remember that I completely forgot about the Ted Talk, so I had to make a whole presentation in about 4 hours.

I ended up doing pretty well without using any notecards. She is THE teacher that came up with the S.T.E.M. program alone. She teaches us about cells, biology, animal life, organisms, atoms, molecules, family life, and lots more. She is by far the most organized and under control teacher there is. In science, we learn all about technology, evolution, geology, biography, ecology, and endagered species as well. We mainly learn all we know about life from Mrs.

Garcia. By definition ADVENTURE is an unusual or exciting experience or activity. In our AdVenture program we learn by doing unusual or exciting activities. We study Language ARts, Social Studies, Math, science and computers through the use of technology, collaborative projects, research on the internet, experiments and other hands-on activities and some exciting field trips. Since we used technology to learn so much this year, I created this e-portfolio to tell about some of my favorite projects. Science and math are my favorite subjects.

In this e-portfolio you will find a link to my project on the seasons for science. I enjoyed this project in particular because I worked really hard on it. The math project I linked to my portfolio is the one we created to study volume and surface area. I espeically liked this project because it combined two of my favorite things--math and minecraft! We often get to do fun projects like this in math. One of the most interesting classes we get to study in the AdVENTURE program is Globaloria.

Most 5th grade students don't even get to play computer games, however we get to make games! Check out the link to my Globaloria page to see the exciting games I created! Our Language arts and Social Studies core was the class in which we 5th graders spent the most time of the day. This was important because we had writing assignments in all of our subjects and language arts was where we learned writing. At AdVENTURE S.T.E.M. I had two core classes.

One class was Social Studies and the other is ELA. These were fun because we not only learned, but we did some fun projects and visited cool interactive sites. In social studies I did interactive learning on a site called mission-us.org. On Mission US, I had to control a digital person through their life during an important part of history. I learned about people from the times of slavery and many more historical events. I also did a play with my class mates.

The play was set during the time of the American Revolution. In ELA I used a site called typingweb.com. Typing web is a site that I had to type what I saw on the screen as fast and as accurate as I could. I had to be careful on how fast I was typing because if I made a mistake, I would get a lower percentage when I was done. You have to get up to 100% to finish.

All this was turned in automatically, so that way my teacher could keep track of my progress. Hello I am Jimmy and this is my E-portfolio. I am in fifth grade at AdVENTURE Stems (Science, Technology, English, Math and Social Study's). I like AdVENTURE for many reasons. One, they let you use technology all the time. You get to code a game in Flash.

I know that learning how to use computers is very important because I live in Silicon Valley. At my old school, we had computers that were older than I am! It would take all of computer lab to load a page. Compared to my last school, AdVENTURE is better because I only had one teacher there. I had to chop up my school day into different parts. I would only get about 10 minutes of solid learning.

Now I get a full hour per period. Sometimes I get to walk to school with a friend that goes to my old school. One day I asked him what he was learning in class and he said the human body. I was suprised because I learned that 3 months earlier at AdVENTURE. Finally, for me AdVENTURE means lots of science. It's my favorite class because when I grow up I want to be a brain surgeon or a vet.

I get to do fun experiments at AdVENTURE. I get way more science now than before. They really focused on math instead of anything else. I have done many projects this year. In this web site I will tell you one project from each of my classes. For Globaloria, I have my mini game.

For science, I have my eco-house with Marek, Rohan, and Alex. CORE, I am explaining my play. Finally for math, I designed a playground. Hello, my name is Isabel. I go to Adventure STEM, a program on a middle school campus with grades 5 through 8. It allows fifth and sixth graders to experience a middle school education earlier.

Adventure students have the advantage of using technology in school. This will help them in the future. Adventure has many group work projects and presentations to work on collaboration and confidence. Adventure has lots of fun classwork, homework, and projects. An example of a project was the Planning a zoo project. In this project, we had to calculate the area needed for the animals exhibits and place them.

An example of some homework is Zondle. Our science teacher assigned us to do at least 20-30 minutes studying on Zondle. Zondle is a website with games that ask you questions about science. Adventure does not have much homework that takes a long time. Most homework assigned takes about 20 minutes. My favorite subjects are science and PE.

I like science because it is very important and interesting. I like PE because I get to learn new sports and exercise. Other subjects taught in Adventure are Language Arts, Social Studies, and Mathematics. I think it is fun and exciting to have a middle school schedule because we get to switch classes. Another thing I like about Adventure is we get to use technology. Technology is fun and educational.

There is lots of technology at Adventure. One technological device we commonly use are laptops. Students do most of their homework, class work, and sometimes projects on laptops. Students don't have to worry about losing or forgetting their homework. All they have to do is log in the Schoolloop or Edmodo and check for new assignments. Using technology is also fun and prepares students for the future.
