Hye, my name is Nur Syafiqah Binti Nordin. I am 21 years old. It is a pleasure to get to know me. I am a serious and fun loving woman with a great sense of humor. I come across as a very shy individualistic person, which is important to know about me. Initially, making friends is hard for me, but once I do, it's great.

Humoring, joking, and laughing with people also pays off for me. Kindness, compassion, and sensitivity are some of my best traits. Academically I gained a lot of knowledge about programming, which includes a wide range of functions and so on. During my studies, I was taught how to manage databases and how to become an analysis designer in the future. Although I am still a student, I am also looking for a side income to cover my daily expenses. I joined affiliate products on Tiktok.

Among the products available are skin care products, body soaps and shampoos, phone accessories, make-up products and women's clothing such as skirts and hijabs. I have been an Old Dominion Student since 2018 and began as a Computer Science major! Though I still have a love for coding and IT, I have found true motivation and passion for helping people. While empathy and personal connection have come to me naturally, I have been working to expand the demographics of people I work with. Different social characteristics, such as race, class, gender, and culture, all change a person's life and their experiences. In order to be the best Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, and ultimately friend to the people in my life, I strive to constantly grow in my world view.

I have been blessed with 5 siblings: one older brother, one younger brother and 3 younger sisters. Being one of the older children in our family, especially the oldest daughter, I have really enjoyed being a mentor and caregiver to them. Now that they are entering their teenage years, our relationship has grown stronger as they are facing new challenges in their lives. We are all very close to each other as well as our parents. My mom and dad have always stressed "Family first," and that we look out for each other, so we have been very close. I have loved making memories with them all over the years, whether it be car rides full of music and ice cream, or playing in the backyard, my siblings are and always will be...

While I started in high school, college has allowed me to delve into hobbies that I love, such as tabletop gaming. I can stress the importance of the social bonds and skills I have developed while trying to defeat orcs in a dungeon, it is honestly just fun. I have made some great friends doing this and enjoy the various personalities that I meet during our games. There’s a good mixture of outgoing, charismatic people, and quieter, introspective people and I have loved how everyone in our group is open and accepting of each other. As I’m nearing the completion of my bachelor’s degree, I am looking forward to the challenges and adventures ahead of me. I am eager to pour myself into a new career, and to furthering my education in pursuit of my master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and ultimately my certification and new role as a professional...

I will always appreciate my family, my friends, and all my teachers who have helped inspire me and get me in the stage of life I am now. I currently work as Nursery leader at Great Bridge United Methodist Church. Here, I care for children ages 0-3 and aid them in their journey with God with stories, dance, and coloring. This job requires that I continue to be CPR certified for adults and children and have an updated background check. My name is Amishi and I am a current senior studying Public Health Sciences with a writing minor. Since I was a young girl, I have had two main passions in life: science and writing.

Historically, the two are irreconcilable. My high school heavily instilled in its students a mentality I do not agree with. It was ingrained in us that we had to be really good at one thing and put all our energy towards that one thing. This gave room to major stereotyping. I was taking 4-6 AP classes a year and quickly became integrated in the "STEM inclined students." This became a looking glass self moment; people saw me as someone who was decently good at... Meanwhile, I had a hidden journal filled with poetry, daily thoughts, and embarrassing quotes.

I never admit to anyone that I loved writing as it seemingly went against the academic interests that defined me. It wasn't until college that I started to share my writing and feel comfortable sharing it. I realized writing was a form integrated in everything we do as pre-med students, but the issue is that nobody in STEM fields enjoy the writing they do. Rather, they get caught up in the technicalities. It was upon this realization that I picked up a job in the statistics department to improve integration of science and writing by assigning short narrative prompts instructing students to explain a statistics concept... This position allowed me to quickly learn that the writing I knew and loved was inaccessible to many in STEM fields due to the rigidity with which writing is taught when we are children.

I started to utilize a new approach in my office hours; I would have students tell me their ideas as a story. Anyone sitting there could tell you how much engagement improved upon using a storytelling approach to even the dullest of concepts - linear regressions, confidence intervals. Thus, came about the passion I like to call "writing about science in non-scientific ways." When my grandma was battling breast cancer and a double-knee replacement, I found myself writing a lot to help cope with the emotional toll of seeing a family member in the hospital. Then, my family found out my uncle had multiple stage four tumors in his brain. I found myself journaling more than I ever have.

My parents seemed to only come to us with bad news about his health. The brain tumor have him a type of aphasia - he would look at objects and confidently call them the wrong name. The doctors at this point stopped seeing him seriously and he was no longer a stakeholder in his own health. There was a constant burning question at the back of my mind everyday: is anybody asking him how he truly feels? This experience is what led me to explore the field of narrative medicine and the benefits it possesses. In terms of my career, I hope to one day be an OB/GYN.

The field itself has seen a lack of narrative-centric practice, and I believe in the power of using a patient's story to drive the trajectory of their care. I have listed several areas of the field of women's health that are of interest to me and could benefit from a more narrative-focused lens in care. Pregnancy Experiences for LGBTQ+ Populations My given name, Alexandra Marie Katherine Trotter, is long in sentiment and gratefully shortened to Zanna for those who find themselves in a hurry. In contemplating what brought me 'here' today, I've the standard resume for most artists: an interest in paints and pens and pencils from a young age; a propensity to doodle overmuch in the margins... to stretch myself in these creative endeavors.
