Human Resource Development was established in 1990 in Human Resource Services. Managing Directors were: Don Jay Brown (1990-2000) and Delora Bertelsen (2001-2003), and Directors were Matt A. Smith (2001-2008) and Anna Wight (2008-2009). Anna Wight King, Greg Danklef, Jessika Walker (consultants in the HRD department) and Forrest Flake have co-directed HRD since 2009. Its purpose was to bring about the maximum utilization of the University’s human and financial resources. Managers included: Nad Brown (1970-1971); Mark Stoner (1971-1979); Don Jay Brown (1979-1990); Rebeca Arciniega (1990-1993); Boyce A. Ator (1993-1996); Kevin R. Miller (1996-2003); Anna Wight (2003-2005); Dana Seager (2005-2009); Greg Danklef (2009- ). The Training Department provided supervisory training programs to employees of the University. They also assisted with safety promotion and development.
It developed programs to teach productive and effective management to administrative personnel and efficient work techniques to staff employees. Training and Development reported first to Student Personnel Services until the department settled and then to the Director of University Personnel Services. Since 1990, Training and Development functioned under the direction of the Managing Director of Human Resource Development under Human Resource Services.
