This programme combines social science perspectives on technology and the environment with a focus on governance, social practices, sustainability transformation, and the energy transition. You will learn to analyse how technology, science, and society influence each other, and how infrastructures and critical systems can be transformed to meet sustainability goals. Through real-life cases and collaboration with companies and other stakeholders, you will also build practical skills and professional networks. The Master's Programme in Technology, Environment and Societal Change is a two-year programme. It leads to the degree of Master of Social Sciences, M.Soc.Sc., which is 120 ECTS credits.

The application period for LUT University’s master’s programmes is open from 16 December 2024 to 22 January 2025. Applicants who have completed a suitable bachelor’s degree in Finland or abroad are eligible for admission. The duration of LUT's master's degrees in technology, business, and social sciences is two years, and their scope is 120 ECTS credits. The total intake of the programmes that are now open for application is 1530 students: 1174 in technology, 296 in business, and 60 in social sciences. At total of 28 of the master’s programmes take place in Lappeenranta, 13 in Lahti, two in Kouvola, and one in Mikkeli. Some programmes can be completed alongside full-time work and partly remotely.

Altogether 32 master's programmes are taught in English, and both Finnish and international applicants are eligible for them. Students coming from beyond the EU or EEA or Switzerland pay a tuition fee of 13,500 euros per academic year. LUT’s collaboration programmes (double and triple degrees) have their own specific application periods and tuition fees. LUT Business School's new master’s programme in strategic sales examines business-to-business sales from multiple perspectives, such as digitalisation, ethics, and international business.
