In math class we are currently learning about circles and how to find the area and circumference. Also about half circles and quarter circles. A tessellation is repeating an image making no overlaps and no gaps. Hi, my name is Andrea. I am thirteen year old and I am currently in Grade 7. I am from Canada and Loas.
I attend Berkeley International School in Bangkok, Thailand. I have lived in Thailand my whole life, which is a wonderfull place. It is a joy being part of an amazing school. I love being a member of Berkeley's Student Council, and soccer team. My interests is traveling, reading, shopping, physical excercise, and catching up with celeb news. I have a passion for animals, others around me, and nature.
This might sound like I'm a nerd and all, but I don't fit into a category. I fit in all, I love excercing, reading, and shopping. I am having a wonderful year in Berkeley, I've been here since it first opened (which is currently 5 years). I hope I'm not boring you out. Hope you enjoy this wonderfull website. During math throughout high school it has been hard i had to work hard at it everytime.
last year in algebra 2 it was hard for me to understand it at all. we would start a new section in math we would get the homework packet and a note packet to take notes to understand the homework better. everytime we would take notes it would help me with the homework so I could look back at the notes. I can find it better. it was alot multiple steps in some of the problems. the note packet was shopw how to do the different problems and give us eamples to look back at if we are not sure how to do it.
It my last of math has a refresher for some of the things that i will need in the future so in consumers math we learn the basics of the future life to make... In my career i will need to know how to measure out different diagrams for cattle. like pens for them to move around and be able go out eat grass in the pastures. math also plays a roll in a herdsmen career went it comes to how much protein and feed and feed supplyments they get with there regular feeding system. Also they have to manage the weight of the cattle and how much they are gaining daily for the feed and how much they get or feeed they should be feed if they are... they could also know how long until the cattle can be taking to the market house or to be sold as meat.
As a young adult i will take the math skills i have and appley them to things in the future as my career and when i go to college. some things i have start to learn in life that math will take part in your life when become adult because you will need to know how to manage your money and be able... So as an adult i need to know certain math skills to have a better future. Two semesters of Calculus at the level of MATH 10350/10360 or better, AP credit with a score of 5 is acceptable (up to 8 credits) Chemistry with lab including organic chemistry 1 (8-12 credits depending on the sequence of the previous institution) AP NOT acceptable for any portion English Composition (3 credits) AP credit is acceptable
Introductory Sociology or Psychology (3 credits) Transferable electives (If Physics is taken it must be calculus based to transfer) (3-8 credits) I am almost done with my sophomore year in high-school. I am editing my digital portfolio on myself. I am already thinking of new things that I want to add because so much has happened. At some point during the school year, we started a project in all of our classes called "Charity fair".
In the project, what we needed to do was get a team(or work solo)and then make a product where then on the day of the actual charity fair event, you would then sell the... My team and I made Boba Tea, which on the day of the event... sold out in less then 3 or so minutes... The math portion of this project was listing out all of the ingredients or materials that you are going to use for the product(s), as well as how much they cost. I chose this mostly because we have done NO OTHER PROJECTS in math, and I would've chosen the class that we made the tea in, but we didn't make it in any of the... We made it "Fitt" instead of "Fett" just in case for copy right reasons.
Understands that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication; adds, subtracts, and multiplies polynomials. I think that I do especially well with multiplying polynomials because I was able to use pascals triangle. I need to be able to creates equations and inequalities in one variable and uses them to solve problems. This Includes equations from linear and quadratic functions and simple rational and exponential functions. Sometimes it is hard to create an equation and inequality on one variable, and because I found this challenging, I sometimes had to guess an entire question on tests. How I might improve upon those standards.
I need to test that the equation or inequality is accurate after I have the answer because I usually don't. The endeavor was parent graphs that we had been studying in class. They are as follows. X^2, x^3, 1/x, (x+5) ^2, (x+5) ^3, -2.5X, x^2+5, and x^3+5. The goal of learning these was to learn how to transform a graph, and circles on a graph. Steps involved in this endeavor included writing out the whole problem, drawing a graph, and working out which parent equation is being used.
Then solving it and drawing it on the graph. This required me to pay attention during discussions and for me to show work so I would be able to go back and figure out how I did my problems for future reference like... The challenges of this were how boring it is, as I do not enjoy math. I overcame these challenges by just getting over it. I don’t really have much of a choice. I had to change my sleep schedule a bit to keep from being tired in this class.
One other challenge I had was showing my work altogether. It’s not something I would normally do, but I started to for this class so I would be able to deconstruct my notes and learn from them when I forget how to do something. For my artifact I am using a toolkit from class showing different Y points on a graph that has the same X points throughout all 4. This artifact shows exactly how the equations work as they are listed next to the Y axis table. It shows the whole process in action because it also shows the original graph. The biggest academic thing I took from this was how to slow down and actually do math.
Normally I just try to kind of ignore it and do nothing but I really had to get it together with this math so I wouldn’t fall behind.
