The Story of America is a supplemental U.S. history program for middle and high school students that immerses learners in the events, ideas, and people that shaped our nation. The program builds historical knowledge while strengthening reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. A strong democracy depends on citizens who understand our nation’s history. Yet many students leave school without the knowledge or critical thinking skills to evaluate information, engage in civil discourse, or participate meaningfully in civic life. Teaching history as isolated facts, without connecting it to today’s challenges, misses the chance to prepare the next generation of informed leaders.
The Story of America combines history and literacy in a digital learning experience. Students explore interactive lessons, authentic videos, primary and secondary sources, detailed timelines, hundreds of historical images, and inspiring biographies. All while building the skills to read, analyze, and communicate like historians. The Story of America is built on historical accuracy and balance. Lessons draw from vetted primary sources, respected historians, and state-approved standards to give students an honest, fact-based view of our nation’s past. By avoiding political bias and focusing on evidence, the program helps students form their own informed perspectives.
Rooted in evidence-based literacy practices, the Story of America uses narrative and visuals to make history meaningful and memorable. Savvas Interactive High School History offers a thorough, primary source-based, interactive history program for your highschooler! Bundles include a hardcover textbook, a consumable Reading Guide, and access to the online Savvas Realize portal. The comprehensive Textbook will inform and equip students with historical findings, social justice issues, citizenship studies, ELA skills, critical thinking, and more. Each section has recall questions to check comprehension and mini assessment sections to prepare students for each unit test. The Reading Guide contains the primary source readings, and comprehension and review questions.
Teacher resource material is located on the online portal. This includes answer keys, lesson plans, alternative tests and quizzes, and extra worksheets. The online portal also houses additional articles and biographies, informational videos, interactive graphics, and additional resources for the students. Teachers can assign as much or as little extra digital content as they wish. Magruder’s American Government contains 68 lessons and online content is updated every year to reflect governmental changes and election information. US History contains 110 lessons and helps students see how U.S.

With more than enough content in the textbooks alone, this program makes a wonderful, flexible history program. Each unit in our American History curriculum includes detailed lesson plans with engaging projects, video lessons, PowerPoints, guided notes, interactive notebook pages, digital Google resources, assessments, review games & more! Our US History Curriculum includes 19 complete units, beginning with an overview of North America's major indigenous nations and their first interactions with European explorers all the way through to Modern America. Each unit is packed with engaging and interactive resources and concludes with review materials and an assessment.
Lesson plans and answer keys are provided so you can spend more time on yourself and your students and less time planning and grading. Click on any unit below for a brief overview and video introduction to the unit. You'll also see links to the units on TpT where you can read reviews from other teachers who have used the resources in their classes. You can download a pacing guide for the curriculum here and read about how each unit is paced out. Joining Students of History grants you immediate access to EVERY UNIT in US History along with virtual learning plans for each, review materials, and more!
