Special Collections has many collecting areas. Special Collections curators actively collect, exhibit, and maintain the materials in their area of expertise. Below you will find a list of the curators and staff and their contact information. If you are unsure who to contact, please reach out to specialcollections@byu.edu. Access to vault items will be restricted after 5pm on weekdays and all day on Saturdays Here is a map of BYU campus. The Harold B. Lee Library is outlined with blue, and visitor parking is outlined with red. There is visitor parking north of the MOA (Museum of Art) and east of the WSC (Wilkinson Center).

L. Tom Perry Special Collections is located on the first floor of the library, on the north side. The library entrance is on the third floor, so head down two flights of stairs or use the elevator. If your request is located in the Vault, it is only accessible Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If your request is located in Cold Vault (most photographs), it must be requested 24 hours in advance. Search across our collections, digital materials, and more.

University Archives, a unit of the BYU Special Collections, is in the process of reviewing all archived material to ensure collections do not contain personal information that cannot be shared. This review only impacts University Archives materials. The Archives can still accommodate research requests, but at least 30 days' notice is appreciated. More time may be needed for larger requests. No! Once you have made a request using our online request system, come in at your convenience. We can pull materials for you same-day. Yes! If there are additional materials you are wanting to look at, let a Reference Assistant know. We are able to pull materials for you same-day, usually within 5-10 minutes.

Lockers are available at no charge for Special Collections patrons. Once you have submitted your request, one of our Reference Assistants will pull the book or manuscript you have requested from our library shelves. We may contact you via email if we have any questions regarding your request. After submitting your request, you are ready to visit L. Tom Perry Special Collections! One of our Reference Assistants will greet you and review the Reading Room Rules with you.

You will put your things in a locker and take a seat in the Reading Room. A reference assistant will give you 1-4 books at a time or 1 manuscript folder/box at a time. After you have finished your reasearch, return your materials to the Reference Assistant. You are then free to go! Dated from 1988 to 1995. Contains general correspondence, memos, programs, and hand notes concerning alumni matters. Also includes Karl G. Maeser award recipients (1958-1977), proposed constitution of Brigham Young University Alumni Association, “Together for Greatness” reports, Alumni House proposals, Alumni Association directory, and President’s Club dinner papers. Contains correspondence, directories and proceedings for annual meetings, financial records and ledgers, reports, minutes, newsletters, and short publications and associated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, for which Wilmer W. Tanner served as secretary-treasurer and president of the regional academy conference.

Materials dated approximately 1960-1977. Directories, campaign pamphlets and bumper stickers, candidate photographs, correspondence, party literature, and audio tapes of conferences, committee and party meetings. Includes Argosy Pictures Corporation and Vanguard Fims, Inc. personnel lists, correspondence about hiring, leaves, and reccomendations, and a wage scale.
