I choose this item because, I thought it was one of the most fun projects. I think this because, it was really fun putting the food together and using candy and frosting and how we got to eat it after. I really enjoyed this. This shows my achievement helping me use my mind and thinking of other ways to put something together and making us use or brains. And, I love to do that. What it means to be an 8th Grade ADV student
Hello, my name is Jenna Kafeety. I’m an 8th grader here at Adventure STEM. This is my third year in this program and my last. Adventure has been the best school that I’ve ever attended. Everything about this school is amazing. From the technology to the teachers, the students, the work, the projects, and anything else you could think of!
Attending this school really helped me find myself and helped me see everything that I’m capable of doing, it’s like I really belong here. This school has taught me how to engage in real life conversations and how to present. I wasn’t a really good presenter when I first attended adventure. However, I’ve presented so many times to the point where it’s a piece of cake. I hated presenting, but now it’s my favorite thing to do! I believe that when a student presents, it gives them a chance to not only learn things but to teach others.
Presenting is a skill that all students need, now and in the future. Adventure just gives me a head start on what’s going to come in the future. Being an adventure student means getting better opportunities than other students. Lots of students that are in a regular middle school don’t really experience real life situations. A majority don’t know how to present or even code a game. Thanks to adventure, I had the chance to learn how to do all these things, instead of waiting till I get to high school or college.
The projects that are given to us, make us look at things differently and in ways, no other students from a regular middle school would. The teachers are a big part of all of this. Like I said before, they’re preparing us for the future, meaning that if we are stuck on a project or don’t know how to present, they’ll guide as through it until we can eventually... Many students will never have the opportunity to experience what I’m experiencing and I never take that for granted. Attending this school is such a privilege and it will be the reason that I’m successful in the future. Being an adventure student also means Family.
When you spend 3-4 years with the same group of 30 kids in every single one of your classes, you grow to become a family. You have your inside jokes, your memories, each other, and we all back each other up when needed. We also have the same teachers for those 3-4 years meaning that we grow very close to the teachers. Our classes are often just the class making jokes and learning at the same time, but our classes are serious when they need to be. Our teachers grow to know the type of people we are and that often makes it easier for them to control us. When a student makes a mistake or does something wrong, they would know the type of person they are and would often give them and warning and let it slide.
It makes the adventure students feel like they have a family at home and at school. This class has been a very special one and it’s sad that we’re all going different ways, but I’d never forget a single one of them. Being an adventure student finally means, maturity. In order to graduate from adventure, you need good grades. You need to learn how to maintain your grades, you do that by doing your work. We need to learn where our priorities lay and when we get loads of work that’s when we get put to the test.
We have the choice of playing video games or watching our favorite tv show or picking the mature choice of doing all these assignments that are due. If you pick to play video games, it’s not likely that you will get a good grade on all of those assignments that were due. Now if you pick to work on those assignments, then you’ll probably get grades on them. Your priorities are a very important part and as you spend your 5-8th-grade years here at adventure, you can actually see yourself maturing and doing the right thing. Overall, adventure has treated me well. I’ve met lots of new people and had the chance to be taught by such amazing and talented teachers.
I’ve learned how to present, collaborate, create amazing projects, turn in good quality work, write great expository essay’s, and so much more. This school has made me who I am today and has had the biggest impact on me and the way I think and talk. I will never forget the people at this school and will forever be thankful. This school and the people in it are unforgettable. HI! My name is Jenna.
I am a 7th grader at adVENTURE. This is my second year in this program and I couldn't be happier. I don't have the words to explain how inspiring and wonderful this school is! I know that I belong here and I am so happy I found this school. I have had so many opportunities to learn more and be who I am. I really don't know what I would do if it wasn't for adVENTURE.
I had the chance to engage in real life conversations with my father. I did have doubts in this school once I got the acceptance letter. However, when I got to adVENTURE I felt like I was in a wonderland. A fantasy school, I never imagined. I would wake up every morning excited to see what I will be learning today! First, being an adVENTURE student means getting to do things that many students in your grade can't.
Many 7th graders my age don't get the amazing adVENTURE projects. These projects make you feel smart and what is even better about this is that your teachers are with you every step of the way, making sure if you fall to pick you up... Like a guardian angel. I can't say how many times a non adVENTURE student tells me that I am lucky to be in such an amazing and hardworking school, and I know I am very lucky to be... I consider projects like a test. You have a few weeks to learn about that specific subject and you are put to the test by working on a project.
BUT, a project requires team work and adVENTURE is all abut collaborating. This prepares us for the real world and gets us as students for what's to come. Which is not what any other school would really do. Second, being an adVENTURE student makes you feel like you have a 2nd family. AdVENTURE is not like any other middle school. We don't have different classmates in each class.
We are like a class who goes from period to period TOGETHER. This makes it so I spend time with the same students, five days a week, for four years. It may sound boring but, as the years go by the closer we become. It's not just the students who are family, it's the teachers too! The teachers are like I said before our guardian angels. They make sure that we know what to do and that EVERY SINGLE STUDENT knows what going on.
They make sure the shyest students come out from being that shy kid to that amazing kid in that classroom with new and great ideas. They may be strict at times, but that's all because they care about us and our education. They always stay on top of our grades and try to make us the best we can be. We laugh with them and we make jokes together. We really do feel like a big, big, big family and I couldn't have asked for more! Finally, being an adVENTURE student means doing so much for your benefit.
Adventure STEM is not just a name. It stands for something. The S stands for Science, the T stands for Technology, the E stands for Engineering, and the M stands for Math. But, wait! That's not the only thing we study at adVENTURE. Adventure has many subjects.
For example, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (OF COURSE), Social Studies, Language Arts, and so many electives! You feel so smart knowing all these subjects! Overall, adVENTURE has been great to me and I am already dreading the end of the year next year in 8th grade! I hope to enjoy every last bit of my time and here with my teachers and classmates. This school has been great to me from the start and can't wait for what's to come and what I'm going to learn in the future from this school! In elective, we created three games, during the schoolyear.
