Circulation, Holds, Faculty Delivery, Interlibrary Loan, and Course Reserve Extended Hours for Finals: Services limited to Level 3 General Help Desk before 8 am and after 9 pm Overview of the different collections available at the Library The general collections include items in a variety of formats (books, audio/video, maps, databases, journals, etc.) and languages. Items can be found on the shelves, online, or in compact storage. Special Collections preserves fragile or rare books, manuscripts, and papers, as well as materials in selected collecting areas.

Materials may be accessed in the Special Collections Reading Room or, for digitized materials, online. The digital collections include scanned images of books, documents, photographs, and other materials, primarily from Special Collections, as well as research published by BYU faculty and students. Tom Perry Special Collections offers access to primary resources and rare, one-of-a-kind materials on level 2 of the library. They also provide digital online access to some of their collections via the library website. BYU graduate students may check out up to 75 items for a period of 13 weeks, and renew items online two times. There are also self-checkout machines available on Level 3 near the south entrance and the General Help Desk. Request books and articles from other libraries via Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
